Pours dark crimson in glass, clear legs of alcohol apparent with swirling on this 16.3% beast. Nose has cherry/bramble and tobacco- very much what is expected from high quality cool climate Zin IMO. In the mouth, more big Zinberry fruit with a modest whack of tannins. This should be served with some food- burgers or good quality Pizza. Better than I expected for sure. Did ZAP festivals well over 20 years ago, this reminds me of some of the better Zins served at the Fort Mason Pavilion - at I left PRETTY FOGGY afterwards! |

That said, this delivers a fine example of aged Grand Cru red Burgundy at a price many of us won't choke on. Bravo! One of the best reds tonight! |

Vibrant; transparent. MOUTH: mannered and dry; very ripe fruit flavor crossing into musquée; beeswax. Reliable vitigenic acidity structures the event. I find a shadowy impulse of something acetic thoroughly buried in pastel bloom. The finish peels away leaving gripping white stone flavor. 2021 Ivag is a bit more contained in expression compared to 2019. |
