The palate is ever evolving becoming more sophisticated and complex over time. There's good acid with a brightness to the lemon oil and subtle peach notes, though maybe a bit less acid than the '09 and '11 but holds together nicely. Similar flavors on the palate with a nice balance between the fruit and oak and some underlying mineral character. The oak has been dialed back greatly, resulting in a much fresher version, with notes of green apple, pear and lemon. Devoid of tropical fruit, it's almost gentle and very easy to drink now. I could wish for a bit more intensity, though, but that may be the 2012 vintage. I was worried about it since it was several years past it's 2015 "Drink Latest" date here on CT, but decided to open and pair with grilled swordfish and a garlic-butter sauce. The Ramey Hyde Vineyard is one of my favorite Chards- right there with Leeuwin Art Series, for my tastes. Deftly made with great fruit, tonight's wine managed to blend a beautiful lemony acidity with a pleasant oily mouthfeel. So well balanced and delicious from nose to finish. I think there are a few more years left for this vintage.
