This is my 3rd wine from B-V.
2010 - 93
2015 - 92
Let's see about this wine, also made in excellent vintage in Bordeaux.
2 hours in the decanter
⏰🕐
First of all there's one change to compare to 2010 and 2015. CS - 45%( minus 5), M - 35, PV - 20( plus 5). And I think it was a good decision. The wine is not so sweet, but more delicate, with flowers, fragrances, herbs and earth.
Ripe black cherry, black currant, plum are here too. Soft spice, fresh acidity, ripe tannins. Velvety texture. Balance and harmony. Harmony and balance
Vintage 2016 was extraordinary in Haut -Medoc. 97 points according to the WA Vintage Guide

By Bordeaux measure this chateau is a very young one. The first vintage was 1996! The 15-hectare vineyard of Chateau Belle-Vue is planted to 50% CS, 35% Merlot, and 15% PV. A year ago I had 2015 and I liked it. This one is slightly better. It's not so muscular, thick and heavy like 2015. It's finessed, more delicate, sophisticated and much more complicated. Smell. If I were an expert it would be much easier to describe what's not in it. But I'm not...red cherry, mint, cedar, forest, flowers, plum, smoke.
What else? Tea (nice!), black currant, black cherry. Taste - it's a mix of "heavy and light" elements. Black cherry, blackberry, plum. On the other hand: vanilla, blueberry , licorice, mint.
Perfect acidity and ripe, grippy tannins. Lovely, pretty long finish with spice , red fruits and... chocolate, cocoa, coffee!
What I like more is how the texture goes from silky to velvety in the matter of the second. Interesting phenomenon 🤔

Purple. Decanted and tasted. This is open and a joy to drink now. The nose is intoxicating with black berries, mulberries and cassis, vanilla . On the palate with present but round tannin and good refreshing acidity, very light on its feet with great poise, but not lean on the midpalate as Lisa Perotti-Brown from the WA described (85 points, -2023). Great and long fruity slightly tannic finish. I more agree with the scores from Jeb Dunnuck and Suckling (92), but I have to give one point more, which is, as I have to admit, a bet on the future. 5/13/16/9 2030+

The wine is at the beautiful spot of mellowed fruit and tertiary aromas, yet maintaining great freshness and youthful energy. Thin watery rim, dark ruby colour, clean. On the nose dark and fruity tones of chocolate, coffee, black tea, cherry, dried tomato, parsley. The palate is clean, full, ripe, soft, with solid tannins and lifted acidity, very long. 50 CS, 30 M, 20 PV.

Very dark and inky almost black in color. Initially there is an intense mandarin orange note on the nose. Next notes of Asian five spice and white pepper. Good texture on the palate. Black fruits, licorice; very well integrated oak influences. More floral notes, hints of lavender and violet. Finishes with notes of boysenberry, raspberry and blackberries. The tannins are very well integrated, smooth and polished. It really smoothed out and integrated more on day 2. Should be very long lived and a great value under $25. Drink 2023-2035

I guess I just like this wine better than the rest for whatever reason. This particular bottle is in prime health - lovely opaque dark ruby with enticing if not exuberant nose of cedar and dark fruits. This bottle is in the perfect place right now with savory tertiary notes coming into clear view. Not the longest finish, but a very enjoyable bottle.

We had the 2000 with the Allen Brothers Ribcap’s. Might have been the most tender cut of meat we had. Even more tender than their Bone-in Fillets. Allen Brothers is currently selling to consumers during Covid-19 as most restaurants are shut or barely open. Order online before the go back to restaurant only sales. You’ll be glad you did. You can see on their site what revered steakhouses they sell the beef etc. Cooked them in the Green Egg. 👌

Perhaps the first 2000 that I’ve opened that was truly ready. Yet, it will improve for another 5-7 years and hold for another 5-10 years properly stored.

The tannins were round and supple...like velvet. Good balance fruit & earth. The structure, tension, length and balance just hit a good stride. Dark, rich, but, muted fruits, dark chocolate, mocha powder, touch of caramel, nicely layer baking spices, dark rich earth, clay, stone, fresh, soft tobacco notes, saddle-wood, soft graphite notes with fresh & withering dark flowers. The acidity nice & round...definitely shows the strength of the vintage. The finish, well balanced-knitted, plush, velvety, flat out elegant & smooth.

I purchased 6 bottles from a very good cellar. All fills are mid neck or better! Today (right now) is my first bottle and I am impressed by the purple color extending to the edge with just the barest hint hint of brown edging. I aerated and decanted it. There is a lot of sediment suggesting little or no filtration and fining. The little nose that is there is clean black and red fruit. I can see no legs (old eyes in a dark room) and swirling does not improve the nose. In the mouth iit has medium body and very little oak. It is fruit forward (after 20 years) but balanced by silky smooth tannins. The acidity is perfect making it a pleasure to drink. The finish is smooth and reasonably long. I'm drinking it with a light vegan meal but I could easily drink this by itself. It might even improve over the next 5 years in a cool humid cellar but a wine drinking this good should be drank. Cheers! Perhaps the lower ratings are due to bottle condition? Proper storage is so important. This bottle is a conservative 93 points. What a pleasant surprise.

Bordeaux 2018 from bottle (Bordeaux and Strasbourg): One of the top among the Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel wines tasted non-blind in Strasbourg, with subtle floral and ripe red and dark fruit aromas. Extra care for superb selection both in the vineyard and in the vat room: important in 2018. The nearly 20% Petit Verdot lends spice and structure, 54% Merlot succulence, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon more structure and body. There is 1% Carmenere, but I will not pretend to detect it J. What I like about this wine is classicism in a rich hot vintage, coming from the southern Médoc to boot, just near the Margaux appellation. The balance at close to 13.5% alcohol is agreeably fresh for the vintage, but the wine also has density and fine length, with pleasing, Indian Tonic like bitterness. Tasted over several days, and it really shines! Full notes in wine-chronicles.com

WOW Too bad I only had one of these. SAD! When opening a great waft of super aroma. Solid red fruit. The taste was firm, and full bodied. Color great dark red.

Super finish. Low tannins.

So far my wine of the year

An excellent example of how Bordeaux wines are rightly famous from improving with age. Superb at 21 years old. Even the color remains opaque with an inch pour. Wonderful tannin that is rounded, silky, and integrated. Ends with a swallow that is long, spikey, powerful, fruity, and throat coating. Excellent with beef steaks.

Fantastic. This might be the best under 25 buck Bordeaux I have ever had. Complex seductive nose. I would describe the fruit classic with a great feel and purity. I would not have guessed this to be a Bordeaux automatically. I would have guessed a high priced meritage. I will buy a lot more of this. BTW, after some of the initial flavors wore off (not to read closed up) some wood (Hungarian oak as it were) made a more noticeable presence.

We were deep into a game of Cards Against Humanity and I was getting crushed. Not just beaten, but trucked. By a lot. The others wanted another wine and I decided to dig a bit deep and challenge the others who were burying me in the game to blindly identify the wine, And they failed. Joy. I guess. Coffee, campfire smoke, anise, and raspberry on the palate with balance and plenty of spunk. thedrunkencyclist.com

Great value Haut- Medoc...this bottle is singing.
On nose: violets, stemmy medicinal notes( in a good way).
On palate:above flavours enhanced with a 2 hour decant.....an expansion of cigar tobbaco, cassis, forest floor, red plum flesh, and finish of Kona coffee and a ghost of rosemary, on a medium body of softening tannins, due in part to the 22% Petit Verdot, acting as a foil to the 47% Cabernet, and 31% Merlot....this wine is 8 years old, drinking well, with years to go....reminiscent of the 2018 Ch. Lanessan in passing.

Great value Bdx. Does everything you would want from a sub £15/bottle and more. Possibly in its prime drinking window and seems to be best straight from the bottle w/o any decant. For every fancy/expensive you always need one (or possibly many more) of these sorts of wines. very enjoyable.

Well that’s a mighty serious haut medoc. Dark ruby hue with aromatic notes of pencil shavings and bell pepper. Juicy black cherry on the palate with more dark fruit, green pepper and sandalwood. Chewy tannins indicate this will have some endurance in the cellar and reward the patient. What it lacks in plushness it makes up for in stern character. This wine drinks like a faithful dad.
