When I do drink whites I've always been partial to Burgundies, Chablis and Riesling because I don't like the heavy fatness of American Chardonnay's. But this wine has the best of all worlds...the lushness of an American Chard while maintaining a delicate character. And it's very complex owing to a strong minerality. (Many thanks!) Citrus-kissed saltiness lies at the center of this incredibly delicious, deliriously good wine. Beautifully crisp, with just the right amount of oak - it lingers in stony minerality & a freshness of apricot. This was truly an outstanding bottle of chardonnay! Incredibly balanced, smooth as silk, with lots of fruit and enough acidity to pair flawlessly with some grilled Copper River salmon. Think this will continue to improve for another 4-5 years but it is so delicious now that my remaining bottles may vanish before I can test this theory. I never call out other reviewers since everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I have tasted virtually every top chardonnay made in the world and I am hard pressed to remember one that is any better than this one. I completely agree with AG's 97 pt. rating and would have zero complaint paying $100 or more for this wine. However, because I bought several bottles directly from the winery for $72/each, I feel like I got a heckuva of deal, especially since a comparable Batard Montrachet would set me back a minimum of $200+/each.
