Outstanding! Very complex taste that keeps evolving in your mouth. Slight yeast along with apricot notes. It's amazing what difference a terroir makes! Does not even compare to other sparkling wines from outside of Champagne.

I was surprised by this bottle, as a previous bottle was no where near as good. The color was a beautiful gold with moderate bubbles, in keeping with the age of the wine. Unlike many old Champagnes, that to me taste like dilute balsamic vinegar, this was dominated by wonderful toasted brioche with such definition as to make it perfect. It had extraordinary balance with a long finish. Memorable and a perfect partner for sautéed soft shell crabs.

Simply the best champagne I have tried in 2012 and one of the best ever!
Incredible depth of flavors, so much fruit, nutty, herbal, rye bread, sunflower seeds...
Zesty acidity, earthy, complex with similar notes as on nose, long finish, mind blowing champagne. Lovely rye and flowers which I have also found in 1928 Veuve Clicquot.

Beautiful buttery aroma
Dances on the tongue; deep caramel notes with a citrus hint. Nice, albeit short finish. J feels it lingers longer than I do. Extremely smooth.
Some lemony notes to it. Several notes ongoing with the taste.
Some honey notes come through with breathing.

2008 Champagne - 25 top names tasted blind: Very expressive nose here, brioche galore, lemon rind, lots of butter croissant. Ripe lemon on the palate, flowers, fresh and extremely seductive, almost indecently so.

I continue to say: if there is one Champagne to show, how the houses make an amazing, yet admittedly formulaeic drink out of medium quality grapes, chose Rare (to showcase the opposite specrum of Champagne making try a Selosse or Egly). You may find this Champagne “trop dosé”, too toastay, too yeasty, too extrovert, etc. but open a bottle of this and try find a person who does not say wow! After the fabulous 2002, this is a worthy follower. Given the quality, this is actually cheap. The only thing I don’t like about this Champagne is the Russian night club bottle design.

Last of the six (I paid $70 each!). Flat out gorgeous. Just stunningly round, not too heavy, toasty, autolytic - an absolutely mind blowing pinot noir. Bit of a shame to serve it a 00:05 on NYE, but at least everyone recognised it was *much* better than the cristal. lovely wine

This is an unbelievable offering from this producer. Soft and intense with great fruit. It doesn't get any better. Drank 2 at dinner held for Philip Pearlstein, with Nudels,Steph, Clarks, Terry Bowie, Alice Ann, Owen & Emily, Smokers, Betty Cunningham.

Exquisite. This stood taller than many excellent wines ('95 Krug, '01 Solaia). From magnum, lot code on the neck was L15***. 2015 disgorgement?

Not as dark as I was expecting and still packing solid effervescene. Incredible amount of flavors but what stood out to me was smoky ginger. Yummy. Quite possibly the best champagne I've had. Drink or hold.

palate: just slightly incomplete now, underneath is something silken, tight, and pulsing with frothy energy. The rest of my notes say: "Wow. This is going to be awesome."
This wine was eye-opening. Having been fullly enamored with the Charles Heidsieck line compared to the Pipers throughout the tasting, I wasn't even close to prepared to taste this. Was I got was an electric shock of pure, crack-laced mineral shot through my veins with high-strung, glamorously crazed citrus. Having personally never taken heroin, this is what I imagine drinking it would be like. SImply extraordinary. Amazing. Incomprehensible. Hallucinatory. I sure hope I'm not going to go all Trainspotting trying to recreate the experience....in fact, I'm afraid to be dissapointed if I ever get a chance to taste this again. What a ride.

Bordeaux November 2022

Tasted 3 times since November, late release 2021 - this is an epic wine, more than good - rather palish in colour, it's showing it's age but in a very refined way, nothing heavy or clumsy, dried lemon peel, on the dry side and bubbles so small that you hardly notice - I believe it will remain like this for the comming 10-20 years, would love to taste the Dom P 1971 agains this one .. . Drink 2023-2043

I had very low expectations with this bottle, a recent - relatively cheap, single bottle - auction purchase but boy that was wrong. After a few minutes this became an incredibly complex, refined, fresh Champagne with lots of tension and charm. In these best moments it was drinking on a 97/98 point level. After 45 minutes the wine started to get very sour towards the finish and after 90 minutes this (citrusy) acidity was too dominant to continue drinking it. Anyway, this was a pleasant surprise and an amazing (45 minute) experience.

TN: Expressive nose and palate with a very complex and ever-changing aroma profile. Nougat, toast, brioche, butter, burnt sugar, a lot, lot citrus fruit, green apples, white mushrooms and a wonderful saltiness. Wow, very intense and ultra precise aromas. High and round acidity, a lot of tension and crisp, very slightly bubbly, with a beautiful creaminess which unfolds mid palate. Very long, fresh and complex finish.

Decanting: Not decanted, good from the go.

Glass: Lehmann Grand Champagne

Tasted blind. Not overly expressive, but beautiful in its humility. Ultra-fine brioche and toast. In terms of fruit citric, some pear and droplets of fresh wild strawberry. This is in combination with floral elements adds to a refined, complex and beguiling nose. A palate flirting with perfection with the right amount of soft creaminess in great balance with acidity. For me this rivals Cristal 08 in its beauty.

This straw-colored tête de cuvée is a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. Sporting a brisk tiny bead and magnificent aromatics, it serves up a package of citrus, green apples, stone fruits, marzipan and brioche. Dense and vibrant on the palate, it delivers flavors mirroring the aromas and finishes with impressive length. This classic-quality Champagne is delicious now but is also built for the long haul. Well-cellared bottles should easily reach their 25th birthday. Drink now-2027.

Elegant yet energetic nose displaying succulent yellow fruit, lemon curd, cinnamon apple, brioche, coriander sees, light caramel, sweet spices and mineral. Very good concentration, nicely layered succulent yellow fruit, very fine generous mousse, elegant, pure and energetic, bright acidity, strong limestone mineral, and a seamless long pure yellow fruit driven finish with a hint of brioche and caramel at the end. This clearer expresses the 08 vintage, i.e. elegant, pure yet energetic, a pleasant surprise.

This is in a stellar drinking window right now! It's making me rethink high-end rose Champagne! This is crisp, with hints of red fruit, citrus traits of Duncan grapefruit, and lemon, and tangerine peel! It is loaded with mineral, and a fine sea clay. I am blown away by the "vintage traits" as it has so much depth and so many facets. This fall I drank a ton of Vintage Champagnes with fellow Berserkers, that were so amazing, Krug 2002, Comtes 2008, P2 2002, Ruinart BdB 2007, Cristal 2002, and this wine fits perfectly with them. THIS is a multi-faceted, deep as all get out, multi-dimensional, stellar vintage Rosé.

This is so gorgeous. I had this alongside a 2002 Krug and it was such an incredibly interesting pair - you would probably struggle to have two champagnes from the same year with more stylistic difference. The Krug was all dark caramel and so rich - its was an incredible wine and probably the single greatest champagne of my life. The Rare is all about freshness, tension and yellow fruit including citrus. Such a perfect balance. The Krug was an experience. The Rare has a style I adore.
