Easy drinking and approachable on opening. A little alcoholic. Some good flavours including malt and dark chocolate but little structure, length given to the wine by an acidic thread. Drink up.

90/91. A quite serious wine with aromas of earthy, chalky +cedary blackberries, forest fruits. Its medium bodied, lightly chewy linear lightly cedary forest fruited palate has very good depth and ends mediumish, fresh and tapering. 13%. I gave this a couple of hours aeration. Lay down 3-5 years.

Amazing development, could be at or nearing it's peak. Round, silky, coherent with dark fruits, leather, cedar, framed by the gentlest of tannins, and in perfect harmony with the acidity a d wood notes. Amazing length and you almost dare not to swallow.
This is the best of.my recent tastings of early 21st century vintages. It blew everyone @ the table away.

(89-91 vvPunkte) Rubinrot. Expressiv, feiner Duft, steinig kühl, sehr klar.

Vertical tasting at a seminar at the Boston Wine Expo 2017. Opened from an estate-cellared magnum. This wine still have a dark, opaque core, with a touch of bricking but not much for a 2000 (no/little more than the '09 or '10). Aromas of violet, smokey meat, stone, tea, sweet tobacco, cigar box, tomato leaf, cherry tomato, and burnt rubber. Tannins still holding on, but melt away much easier than its younger siblings. It was hard to fairly compare this wine to the others in the vertical because there was such a large age gap between this one and the others ('15, '14, '12, '10, '09, and '00). It was essentially a different beast as the younger ones were much more lively and fruity, while this vintage was much more tertiary and complex at this point (albeit bordering on tired).

Vertical tasting at a seminar at the Boston Wine Expo 2017. Purple core with orange and black reflections with mild bricking. Overall, this wine feels very warm on the nose and palate. Not warm as in bordering on hot (alcoholic), but rather something I would like to cuddle up with if that makes any sense. Aromas of camphor, tea, rose, berry medley, and graham cracker crust. No notes on palate...oops. This wine was good, but was near the bottle of my list from the vertical tasting, which was disappointing given the caliber of 2010 as a vintage in Bordeaux, as well as the enthusiasm the owner had for this wine in particular. To each his own I guess.

Tasted at a seminar at the Boston Wine Expo 2017. Purple-red color with orange reflections, showing mild bricking at the rim. Aromas of smoked meat, sun dried tomato, camphor, plum, tea, violets, anise, pencil lead, and a touch of sweet oak. A touch of residual sugar on the palate, with firm, yet approachable mouth-coating tannins, with tea flavor carrying through to the finish. Perhaps my favorite of the Picque Caillou of the vertical ('15, '14, '12, '10, '09, '00), along with the 2014.

Tasted at a seminar at the Boston Wine Expo 2017. Very dark purple core, especially compared to the 2014. The nose of this wine was much more reticent and severe than previous wines in the vertical...much more terroir-driven with earthier notes of tobacco, lavender, a touch of black raspberry, and gravel. Palate packs a quick punch with lingering tannins that has a pleasant feel, but is not very specific and is lacking in flavor. This wine was still perfectly acceptable, but was definitely my least favorite of the vertical.

Tasted at seminar at Boston Wine Expo 2017. Dark purple core with a surprisingly orange ring given its age. Aromas of anise, menthol, cassis, plum, white chocolate, and swampy earth. Palate is remarkably plush, almost more like a Merlot. Medium-plus acidity with a creamy, soft finish.

Barrel tasting imported in temporary bottles for the Boston Wine Expo 2017, therefore this wine has not yet been fined. Deep purple color slightly lightening at the rim. Aromas of lavender, perfume, red currant, ripe red cherry, and autumnal spices. Firm, somewhat chalky tannins with a touch of residual sugar. The palate is a little bit austere at this moment but is otherwise starting off in a really good place. Not exceptionally complex but very good and somewhat more New World in style.

From a 375ml. 6 hour decant. This wine has a perfection of balance. Attractive, charming, elegant style. Good sense of character and place. Aromas and flavours are a mix of red and black fruits. The nose is just a tad primary due to youth. Nice intensity and persistence on the palate and finish. I really enjoyed drinking this. 89-90 points.

Very nice wine.
Dark and quite opaque.
Typical Bordeaux nose with tobacco, earth and a sugar box.
On the palate also very clearly a Bordeaux with red fruit. It is a bit thin and has soft tannins.
Clearly not a Grand Cru, it misses the depth, but still a lovely (and affordable) wine

Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.

Decent, but not all that great entry level Bordeaux. Perhaps it was past its prime, although my experience with Bordeaux suggests otherwise, particularly out of a magnum. Opened it about 1 hour before drinking and drank over a few hours (second day of Christmas dinner). Tannins subsided over time. My major reservation was the lack of fruit or any depth. I don't want to sound all negative (84 is not a bad score). I guess I was hoping for more.

The drinking window for this is closing. But make no mistake, this is still an excellent bottle of Bordeaux. Nose of tobacco & tar. Balanced attack with black fruits and soft tannins. Great with pasta. 30-second finish. 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc.

Fruit-driven, slightly simple nose with hints of spices and oak. On the palate at first again quite linear - ripe fruit, rather unobtrusive tannins, good acidity. Towards the finish really vibrant with lots of freshness and a nice mineral note. Very good! 90-91+

Decanted 1/2 an hour. Medium/deep garnet/ruby core, pale garnet rim. Nose shows smoky black fruit, touch of earth, quite rich and ripe. Medium/full bodied, ripe black and red berry fruits, soft tannins, some smoke and earth notes but still quite youthful, balanced acidity which is enough to carry a decent length, harmonious finish. Delicious and still going strong.

Very stylish number showing lots of rich chocolately dark fruits with a smoky line of incense in the background. Quite modern and polished, punches well above its price point. The oak is indeed quite evident, but adds a nice bit of fat in the back middle palate. I think this will calm down with another five years. Very good.
