A very well structured little Bordeaux. Dark fruit and an almost peppery nose and long full taste. Still a little tannic, so a few more years would definately improve this wine.

Served blind. Nailed it as US Grenache (yeah!). Lots of reds fruits on the nose - hint of strawberries and rhubarb. Very elegant. I have always liked the Alban syrahs, but this as my first Grenache, and what a pleasant surprise.

Intense dark fruit. Blackberry, cassis, elderberry and some distinct note that I fail to identify. Needed a good bit of air to open up, but then it started to display a very fruit driven yet balanced and cool Syrah. Went really well with the lamb for dinner. In a good spot now.

(served blind) very modern style. Heavy alcohol. Interesting and challenging, but also a bit on the extreme side. Could be interesting to put away fir 8-10 years.

Very light colour with a teal hue on the rim. Come across quite mature. Nice clean Pinot flavours with a fresh acid grip. On the simple side, but quite enjoyable.

Great to have a glass of perfectly mature wine. Charmingly old school - reminds me of a mature Barolo plus an extra layer of spice. Very forthcoming from the first sip but really shines after about 30 minutes. Peaking now. Wish I had more bottles.

The bottle was in great condition. The cork hardly shows any signs of age. Dark colour with only slight teal notes on the rim. On the nose oregano, thyme, plum and pepper. Full-bodied and in very good balance. Perfectly mature now but bottles in similar conditions as this one could surely keep for another ten years. Excellent bottle of Sagrantino.

Dark coloured. Tar and black fruit on the nose. Straight forward fruit. Very soft and pleasant style. A wine many or most would enjoy, but it is pretty far from challenging.

the best Canadian white I have tried so far (admittedly I have not tried many). Fresh fruit - some exotic notes of pineapple and honeysuckle. Crisp acidity. A little shirt on the aftertaste but overall a very good Chardonnay made in a charmingly old school style.

A very well made wine, and very pleasing in its style. Forthcoming smell of strawberry and raspberry. Smooth and pleasant taste albeit lacking some real character and depth. A wine that most people would like but not a wine for bigger analysis.

In my book this is about as good as Chateauneuf can get. Perfect maturity (with decades to go). The balance between fruit and herb/spice is great. Concentrated yet elegant. Fabulous wine....

Wow. While still youthful this comes across as an extremely complex wine. On the nose, you find everything: garrigue, cloves, sandalwood, pepper and thyme combined with some almost 'earthy' tones. It is such a pleasure to drink a wine that opens up gradually revealing layer upon layer of taste. Will be hard to resist the remaining bottles in my cellar, but I must try :) No doubt that another four or five years (and more) will make this wine even better.

I have always had a soft spot for Beaucastel. And in a great vintage like 1998, it is a true pleasure. This bottle is still very young, but is drinking great. The depth and spiciness makes it a perfect companion to the traditional Christmas duck. Fab wine.

Consistently a great bottle of wine and a bargain in this price range. Classic Rhône: dark berries, spice, garrigue combined with a chewy mouth feel. In perfect balance now, but probably no rush drinking the remaining bottles in the cellar.
