5/6/2011 - KristianT wrote: 93 pointsServed blind. Nailed it as US Grenache (yeah!). Lots of reds fruits on the nose - hint of strawberries and rhubarb. Very elegant. I have always liked the Alban syrahs, but this as my first Grenache, and what a pleasant surprise. |

6/14/2015 - KristianT Likes this wine: 93 pointsIntense dark fruit. Blackberry, cassis, elderberry and some distinct note that I fail to identify. Needed a good bit of air to open up, but then it started to display a very fruit driven yet balanced and cool Syrah. Went really well with the lamb for dinner. In a good spot now. |

4/2/2015 - KristianT Likes this wine: 93 pointsGreat to have a glass of perfectly mature wine. Charmingly old school - reminds me of a mature Barolo plus an extra layer of spice. Very forthcoming from the first sip but really shines after about 30 minutes. Peaking now. Wish I had more bottles. |

2/6/2021 - KristianT Likes this wine: 92 pointsThe bottle was in great condition. The cork hardly shows any signs of age. Dark colour with only slight teal notes on the rim. On the nose oregano, thyme, plum and pepper. Full-bodied and in very good balance. Perfectly mature now but bottles in similar conditions as this one could surely keep for another ten years. Excellent bottle of Sagrantino. |

7/18/2015 - KristianT Likes this wine: 90 pointsthe best Canadian white I have tried so far (admittedly I have not tried many). Fresh fruit - some exotic notes of pineapple and honeysuckle. Crisp acidity. A little shirt on the aftertaste but overall a very good Chardonnay made in a charmingly old school style. |

7/18/2015 - KristianT Likes this wine: 93 pointsIn my book this is about as good as Chateauneuf can get. Perfect maturity (with decades to go). The balance between fruit and herb/spice is great. Concentrated yet elegant. Fabulous wine.... |

8/23/2013 - KristianT wrote: 95 pointsWow. While still youthful this comes across as an extremely complex wine. On the nose, you find everything: garrigue, cloves, sandalwood, pepper and thyme combined with some almost 'earthy' tones. It is such a pleasure to drink a wine that opens up gradually revealing layer upon layer of taste. Will be hard to resist the remaining bottles in my cellar, but I must try :) No doubt that another four or five years (and more) will make this wine even better. |

12/24/2012 - KristianT Likes this wine: NRI have always had a soft spot for Beaucastel. And in a great vintage like 1998, it is a true pleasure. This bottle is still very young, but is drinking great. The depth and spiciness makes it a perfect companion to the traditional Christmas duck. Fab wine. |

11/23/2014 - KristianT Likes this wine: 90 pointsConsistently a great bottle of wine and a bargain in this price range. Classic Rhône: dark berries, spice, garrigue combined with a chewy mouth feel. In perfect balance now, but probably no rush drinking the remaining bottles in the cellar. |
