5/4/2023 - rhit wrote: NRThis presented very well, if a bit young. Classic flavors, but they're underdeveloped at this point. The oak and tannin need to resolve more, too. Still lovely to drink with great balance. Lots of upside — I'd hold if I had more. |

11/14/2016 - rhit Likes this wine: NRNotable mostly for the crazy blood-like nose. Aside from that, it seemed nicely balanced - I was concerned that the vintage would show overt alcohol. Other vintages at this stage might have been more complex, but I'm not sure. Enjoyable nonetheless. I probably won't wait too long to drink my other bottle. |

2010 Le Ragnaie Brunello di MontalcinoSangiovese more |
3/6/2016 - rhit Likes this wine: NROstensibly this has everything going for it - fruit, acid, tannin, and great drinkability. But I'm wondering if young Brunello should be a bit more unforgiving, with more acid and tannin. It'd be nice to find some other 2010s like that. 3 people found this helpful, do you? 8/1/2019 - rhit wrote: NRHad over three nights. Definitely evolved - though not oxidized - compared to the previous bottle about a year ago. Much more honeyed, ripe-tasting, and secondary than before on the first night, with less apparent salinity and acidity. By the third, it had tightened up considerably, with more sharpness and pronounced minerality. I’ll keep my remaining bottles for a while, and give them plenty of air/time when I open the next one. |

12/18/2021 - rhit wrote: NRDeep and rich, and in early maturity. Citrus and cooked fruit nose, powerful palate impression, and a mineral and acid-driven finish. Will keep my other bottle for a bit to see where this goes, but it's very satisfying now. |

5/25/2018 - rhit Likes this wine: NRThis had a dilute quality to it, yet maintained a deep and salty intensity. Along with bright acid and a little tannin, it made for for lip-smacking, easy drinking. Kerosene notes and a persistent lactic finish were fun, too. Certainly good, but at least right now, better at ~2/3 the price. |

10/31/2020 - rhit wrote: NRRich, fresh, and persistent, with lovely savory/sweet almond tones, golden fruit, and minerals. A little more bright and edgy the next day, with less fruit presence. Highly delicious. |

2010 Rhys Pinot Noir Bearwallow VineyardAnderson Valley more |
12/7/2013 - rhit Likes this wine: NRDecanted for an hour or so. Dark fruit and mineral flavors with a cool, weighty feel. Lacks the savory tones, levity, and expressiveness of the Santa Cruz Mountains sites, but still probably the best Anderson Valley pinot I've had. |

7/21/2019 - rhit wrote: NRSix years after my previous bottle. Darker in tone and more sappy than before, with dominant fennel, clove, and spice notes. Perhaps lacking a bit in depth, but much more open and interesting. Might gain a little complexity over the next few years, but drinking pretty well right now. |

2007 Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie La Chavaroche / La PérolineSyrah more |
11/22/2014 - rhit Likes this wine: NRSeems like a classic expression of Northern Rhone syrah. After lots of air, very deep, clear notes of pepper, blood, stone, and tart dark fruit. Svelte and elegant while retaining a sense of rusticity. Fantastic. |

8/20/2016 - rhit Likes this wine: NRThe total package. Light, cheerful, and expressive on one side, and serious and structured on the other. Definitely built to age, yet absolutely delicious now. |

10/22/2014 - rhit wrote: NRSomewhat off-putting note of dirty green peas after opening. Thankfully, that was gone by the second night - it was rounded and decent enough to drink, if a bit inexpressive. |

12/28/2022 - rhit wrote: NRDrinking very well, with dark red fruit, herbs, and elegant wood tones. Taut at the core with nicely softening edges. 5/4/2019 - rhit wrote: NRSoft and delicate and mostly about fruit (albeit with a nice, stemmy lift) at first. It gained a little heft by the second evening, with a weightier mouthfeel and increased tannin presence. A nice, rocky undertone was there throughout. Elegant for sure, but I'm not sure this does enough for me. |

1/14/2016 - rhit Likes this wine: NRFloral/stemmy notes and licorice on top of minerals. And for some reason, this had a purity and drinkability that I don't normally associate with Rhys. Charming. |

5/30/2015 - rhit Likes this wine: NRPretty and approachable, with almost too-timid acid and tannin for my taste. Still great with a bolognese, and otherwise the harmony is really appealing. If I had more I probably wouldn't wait forever. |

7/18/2020 - rhit wrote: NROn the delicate end of the spectrum: red fruited, subtle tannin, stones, and a nice undercurrent of stems. Very elegant. If it didn't have some pepper, yep, one could reasonably think it was a meatier Burgundy. Loved it. |

2/2/2014 - rhit Likes this wine: NRTannic and very tight, even after several hours of air. It gave a less savory impression than the 2009, though it still had big-time mineral presence. Of course, the quality and potential is obvious. |
