11/30/2022 - MC2 Wines Likes this wine: NRPiemonte: Back to the truffling!; 11/24/2022-12/3/2022 (Wineries and various restaurants): Fun to get to try. Ideally would have opened a few hours before and given it a chance to maybe evolve. In the beginning it was all more old leather and library but with some time in the glass I thought it started to move more towards dried fruits and potpourri. Not sure where it would have gotten with more time and of course always the risk that the answer is vinegar. Very classic old Nebbiolo and for my taste a bit older than I like. I think the sweet spot might be more in the 20-25 year mark for a lot of wine. |

The palate was quite soft with some red fruits still present, tar, rose petals, high, almost juicy acidity with velvety tannins that became a little more prominent with air in a softer body. This wine was quite beautiful & a perfect match for the creamy Risotto. |

The bouquet was soft and delicate, quite mystical in some ways and had notes of violet, rose and roasted coffee beans (more so than licorice). Possessed a beautiful and very refined acid structure, carrying flavours such as tar, cherry and tea superbly. Long finish. |
