(Azienda Bricco Asili (Ceretto) Barbaresco Bricco Asili) Group's #4 (my #2) – 68 pts; 3, 2, 0, 1 - medium red violet color with pale meniscus; spicy, berry, blueberry, rich, brewed jasmine tea, baked orange, chocolate nose; tasty, tart berry, tart cherry, strawberry, jasmine tea palate with good balance and poise; long finish 94+ pts.

Tasted blind next to the 2001 Produttori Moccagatta. Interesting nose of rhubarb, violets. Mix of dark and red fruit, velvety tannins. Felt more polished than the produttori, whic I liked a little more but still very good.

Another dinner party wine, so reservations about my memory, but I do think that this has opened up since my last bottle 5 years ago. I thought that it might seem austere coming after the 99 Flaccianello but it fact it performed very well with slightly less charm but with more minerality and spice together with firmer structure. Very good.

2001 is turning out really well for Piedmont. Not sure what the vintage rating is, but at 19 years, these wines are showing beautifully.

Took a little while to come together, but when it did this is a perfect illustration of the Barbaresco side of Nebbiolo. Delicate, wonderful perfume, well-balanced. Clear, sweet fruit. Nice stuff.
