I remember my first visit to the Napa Valley involved a tour here between Paradigm and Old Turnbull and really rating the entire experience with our group of six pretty high up! This wine at 21 years is really doing fantastic. The cork did fall apart, but definitely not showing saturation or seepage. The nose was intense black herbal rich fruit, boysenberry, plums. The palate was pretty dark aged black fruit, brambly boysenberries, figs. Finished with a roasted black tannin character, mild black pepper. I bet probably 5 years ago there would have been more black pepper spice. Opened up for someone as their birth year bottle. I have two more of these, which is pretty exciting to think about what I might be getting out of the next two! Yes, no mistake on this rating. 98, and I stand by that. |

2/16/2023 - levicn Does not like this wine: 87 points |

4/22/2022 - SCM Fan Likes this wine: 92 pointsDecanted back into bottle. Served with Friday night grilled NY steak and sauteed portabella mushrooms. Dark in the glass, smell from decanter said this wine will be special. It was. Wife really enjoyed it. Flavors of dark berries, licorice with some minerality. Last bottle and it went down fast. Will not improve with age IMO. |

2/8/2022 - markcic Likes this wine: 91 pointsThis bottle was better than the one I had last fall as the flavors were more vibrant. Drank over two nights. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, licorice, tobacco and dried thyme. Finish was moderate to long. |

12/11/2021 - prasm Likes this wine: 89 pointsConsumed over 2 days (vacuvined and refrigerated), note from day 2. Appearance: Clear, medium garnet with corner bricking. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developed aromas of dried plum, earth, bell pepper, spice, and shoe polish. Palate: Dry, medium acid, silky soft medium+ tannin, 14.1% abv, medium- intensity with fully developed flavors of dried dark fruit - plum and blackberry with notes of dark earth and bell pepper and a medium+ finish. Overall a good wine with nice balance and length though likely slightly past peak - drink now. |

10/4/2021 - markcic Likes this wine: 90 pointsHad not tried a bottle in almost two years the cork broke while extracting and I had to decant through a vinturi and then we let it sit for two hours. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, licorice, tobacco and dried thyme. Finish was moderate to long. Served with simple roasted chicken. |

4/10/2021 - JuliannaDHS Likes this wine: 92 pointsA definite improvement from a bottle about 4 years ago. This is approaching elegant. Fuller bodied (14.5%) but balanced and nuanced. Loads of dark fruit, spices, and a hint of coffee. A delicious recipe in my book. |

10/17/2020 - ID Likes this wine: NRThere goes my last of these 1/2 bottles. Too bad. This wine has been a pleasure to follow over the years. It's drinking great now. The nose has the nice graphite etc of an older cab. On the palate, it's gotten thinner -- all the better to accompany food. To be honest, not that much length. But, to re-emphasize, I like this wine. |

8/12/2019 - markcic Likes this wine: 89 pointsOpened and let breathe for 2.5 hours before dinner. Very similar to the bottle I drank two months ago. A nice nose of fruit, the palate was dark berries, plums, wood and chocolate. The finish was moderate. Drank with a rotisserie chicken and caesar salad. |

6/15/2019 - markcic Likes this wine: 89 pointsOpened and slow ox'd for 3 hours. A nice nose of fruit, the palate was dark berries, plums, wood and chocolate. The finish was moderate. We drank two bottles with our rotisserie duck dinner. The second bottle we pnp'd (thats the problem when you run out) and while the flavors were the same it seemed to be harsher without the extra breathing time. Anyway this wine is a great QPR. |
