Deep gold, with floral and fruity aroma. Flavours of light honey and tropical fruits (over-ripened papaya and honey pineapple and mango). Didn’t taste any citrus fruits in this bottle.

Light bodied (5.3% ABV), sweet, mild spritz with a short sweet fruity finish. Refreshing crowd pleaser to be served well chilled on a hot day. Good value and enjoyable aperitif/desert wine.

😎 Dark garnet. Full body, dark fruit, plum, oak. Dry. Soft. Tannins. Big and Bold Aussie red.

Decanted.

With friends we did a comparison with a 2018 Penfolds Bin 389.
While the Brown Brothers was very good the Bin 389 was a unanimous winner 🏆.

Drank over 5 days. It gained a bit every day although it is not really very special. White fruits, Fresh acidity and some minerals. A pleasant every day drinker which will most likely improve with a few years of cellaring.

A very lively wine at the age of six years, citrus, bit grapefruit, bit creamy, a friendly midtaste with a modest expression of the chardonnay, soft bitters and finishing dry.

Rich, dark, raisin-and-plum nose, black cherry in colour. Intense, full-fruited flavours with unctuous texture. Spirit is well integrated. Delicious and possibly at its peak.

From half-bottle. Very dark and intense, in that old Johannisberger sort of way. Sort of like an old Müller-Catoir too, with that Cronenberg beast-like intensity, but overall missing the complexity that the best examples can offer. Despite the sweetness, good acidic balance overall; just a bit over-the-top in the sense that you can't drink a lot in one sitting.

Opened this bottle at Swatou Seafood Restaurant over dim sum lunch with my family and in-laws to celebrate a birthday.

Light gold in colour with a continuous fizz. Nice ripe pineapples, lemon, lychee and kamquat.

One of my favourite Australian sweet wines. Never fails to put a smile on the guests face when they sip on this wine.

Wow. this was a shock. brought by a guest to a party. Opened on speculation months later. I was half expecting vinegar. It was lovely, and showing no signs of old age other than the garnet/ maroon colour. The tannins had smoothed beautifully, leaving hints of plum and blueberry.

Heathcote / Henty blend. Who whudda thought? Probably not too much Henty shiraz getting around but the blend works very well here. Forward ripe red berries are very Heathcote but the fresh mineral zingy underpinning the palate is not (que Henty). Good freshness here and particularly so at the age.

Opened this at Chao Shan Cuisine to celebrate my mother's birthday.

Gold in colour. Restrained sweetness with notes of lime, lemon, kamquat, sour prunes and lychee.

A perennial favourite of mine. While it is easy to make a wine sweet, the art of creating a balanced sweet wine is much less easy to achieve. The presence of the flavours, backed by acidity (freshness), countered the sweetness to present a neatly packed, action-ready wine.

Note to self: Get a few bottles of this whenever it's on sale.

Feels underdone for a Grand. Lighter weight fruits and less depth than one could expect for the grading. Will hold for another year but not sure that will achieve much.

A note on the 2020, pop and pour.

Medium purple. Heady, liquorice and dark fruited nose.

Full bodied, high glycerol and alcohol.

Crunchy dark fruit, orange juice added acid. Finishes crunchy , thin flavoured, with heat and a little menthol.

This is not for me. Less than good. Pretty label, but this is more for getting the party started than conversation.

A very commercial wine. Sweet, acidic, high alcohol, lack of tannin, and thin flavoured. Hard to enjoy.

30mins later...
Once the alcohol numbs a little, a meaty peppery chew fills the finish. Hard acid edges meet breathy menthol though the finish.

This has such an alcohol burn through the finish. I tried to like it.
