Pop and pour. Quite pale red with that brownish tint you get with Nebbiolo.
This wine started out a bit muted, but opened up over an hour or so to reveal cherries, rose petals, cranberries, and maybe a hint of menthol on the nose. On the palate, this is a classic Barbaresco. Medium body, med+ acidity with tannins that are grippy but not overwhelming. On the finish there is some tar and a little kirsch.
The wine became deeper and more aromatic over time and the last glass was the best. I regret not decanting this. While this will gain some complexity with age for sure, it's quite good now.

Light crimson color. Earthy, strawberry, leather and rose. Still fairly high tannins certainly still very young. Really enjoyed this with food needs food to really shine. I got a couple more bottles happy to see how it develops.

Although this will likely improve further, it is already at a great place and fires on all cylinders right after popping the cork. Light and garnet red color, brownish at the rim. Rose patels, raspberry and a hint of eucalyptus. The tannins are grippy, but not overly aggressive. Typical for a rather young Barbaresco. The chalky minerality and good acidity give this wine a lot of freshness. Medium to full body and excellent length. An elegant wine. I really like this a lot. If you love traditional Nebbiolos, this is for you. 93+ pts

Joy's 43rd (Our house): Magnum. Quintessential warm-vintage Nebbiolo, with darker (almost balsamic) fruit, a musky, gauzy quality, some cherry menthol and a sense of generosity rather than acidity. Really easy for everyone to enjoy, and great with ribeye steak. Suspect at peak, as I can see this type of wine becoming brownish and flat if left for too long.

This is in the plenty-good category and a really nice barbaresco table wine for mid-week. Bone dry, bright berries, underbrush, cedar, smidge of juniper and new leather wallet. (Sorry, just got one.) It’s still young but like most Piemonti it warrants a decant. Glad to have more of these.

Very charming with licorice, rose, red fruit, crunchy acidity and great tannins. Good already now but will continue to deliver the next 6-8 years. I did not notice a huge improvement with aeration.

08032023 - dinner at Farm2plate. Bro solusern’s blind bottle tonight which I guessed as a 2013 Barolo. This is refreshing on the nose and palate after all the heavyweights tonight. Lifted floral notes mingling with red fruit, sour cherries & balsamic notes. Palate is juicy and bright with slightly grippy tannins. Lovely now but would be great in another 4-5 years.

Brooding nose with quite a lot of oak, dark fruit, chocolate, a sort of lifted herbal character that I could almost mistake for cork taint.
On the palate it's ripe, but lots of acidity to keep it very fresh. The tannins are massive and a bit dominant.
[The next day the second half of this bottle (the first half coravined) benefitted from some air, the musty/herbal smell blew off completely and it became more integrated on the palate.]

quick taste

aromas of sweet berries, blood orange, menthol, balsam fir

pretty imposing structure at this stage, but there's great balance and the fruit shines through the tannins

it should blossom with a few years in the bottle, this is gorgeous Barbaresco, just needs time

quick taste, but obviously very serious stuff

aromas of dark cherry, freshly turned dark earth, roses, new leather, mint, licorice...

structured and ripe, this is so young and all about potential

probably not going to open up for 5+ years, but who knows, a long decant might do the trick, it's not unpleasant to drink now, the fruit is intense despite the rather overbearing structure

A very interesting wine,

Not very opened right now, but the aromas really opens up during the aeration, with flowery, jasmine, rose style, little red fruits and berries...

Palate is fresh and zesty, with a tight tannic backbone, not a large wine, more linear and fresh, with a salty finish, quite young ad ripe tannins, well felt on the front.

Really needs a bit of time the fruit flavors and minty/eucalypt/ herbs aromas are tremendous and really appealing.

Superb wine in maybe 6/8 years, or a good decanting

Maybe too young. Closed, light, not much depth, fruit or complexity. Drank it over two days. Decanted for about 4 hrs on day 1.

6 hour decant. Not a big and wonderful nose but more muted. Quite strong tannin still and underlying fruit only slightly showing. Even though it needs more years in the cellar I quite like it now with food. Beeswax, mint, cloves on top of the fruit together with forest undergrowth makes it a delight.

It is great to drink wines you have never come across in restaurant, and this time in Tokyo. Nose is floral with red currants, truffle, and sweet spice. The nose reminds me of a good mature Pomerol with some age, yet the palate is very Burgundian in style. It is smoothe, silky and expressive. For what it is, the wine is spectacular. 91++

Dark cherries and plum with nice tannins. Medium bodied with a nice, lasting finish. Would love to see some of the more subtle flavors come through if given a year or two, but very good now.
