11/3/2023 - Wine in the Woods with Beth Likes this wine: NRThis is a very good wine. The fruit concentration (Medium +) is balanced by the wine's acidity (Medium +). The wine offers complexity through a combination of bright primary flavors from citrus (lemon) and green fruit (gooseberry and yellow apple) along with herbaceous (grass), herbal (oregano and thyme) and wet stone, beeswax and lanolin. These flavors are easy to identify which is also an indication of a very good quality wine. The lemon and apple flavors are present at the first sip but it is the lanolin and beeswax flavors that linger on the finish (Medium +) which is what keeps this wine from being outstanding. |

The acid is beautifully intergrated on the palate, balancing the fruit and providing a elegant mouthfeel. I'm also salivating after the good, lengthy finish. This wine is drinking great now, but has the acidity to age until at least the 10-year mark (2027). If you're planning to open your bottle soon, it wouldn't hurt to give it a quick decant to wake up the fruit. Note: Paired perfectly with Fujian fried rice. |
