Good colour, slightly translucent garnet fading to clear rim.
What a nose WOW. Sweet fruit and mellow deliciousness.
Did quite live up to the nose on the pallet. Bit closed when first poured but opened to mellow sweet mouthfilling flavour. Still good soft tannins and a long finish but maybe begining to fade.

Is it day 3 already?

Black garnet and clear. Showing just a bit of age. Slow legs.

Ripe traditional Bordeaux fruit, leather, tar, licorice, earth, and vanilla. The nose is integrated, so it took me some time to pick out the individual components.

The palate perfectly confirms nose adding mint and graphite. Tannins are soft and balanced. Elegant, integrated, and delicious after two daya. This could bode well for a little more patience.

Finish is beautiful and still sticking around as I type this...

This is a delicious wine that is aging slowly and gracefully. It is still quite dark in color, with a cigar box nose. The cab dominant palate has incredible freshness and delicious flavor with no unpleasant notes. The tannins are plentiful, but fine and don't really dry out the long finish. This is so balanced and elegant and it should have a long life.

Poured through Venturi. Enjoyed this much more than last bottle two years ago; seems to have knit together well, with fruit outlasting the tannins.

Open up with scent of floral spices and a hint of black fruits lingering in the bowl. On the palate this one has medium body and plenty of sweet tannin and moderate acidity. Feeling of black and red fruits are there too. Quite long finish.

Had this bottle in succession with the same vintage of Leoville Barton. I liked the '19 vintage of Langoa better that the '20 Langoa. This was initially a bit dilute and needed a lot of time for the fruit to emerge. Not as concentrated as the '19. Very primary though in an elegant way. Three days to finish.

Classic Langoa. Medium weight, fruit/alcohol/tannins all balanced. At its best. Drink in the next 2-3 years.

Medium ruby hue. Aromas of bell pepper, cassis, cherry, graphite, iron, leather, licorice, tar, violet. Full bodied, with full tannins and plus acidity. Structured and elegant. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc.

After a five hour decant I get notes of blackberry, blueberry, tobacco and cedar. Tannins are high, but with a fine character. At this young age, it’s drinking well.

Second time trying this vintage and it’s apex drinking. Good evolution, still youngish fruit and acidity but very well integrated with the oak and tannins. Won’t get much better and I wouldn’t be cellaring for much more but this is impressive for the vintage

Not impressive. Coravin'd 8 oz. Let it sit in a good Bordeaux glass for 30 min then consumed over another 30 minutes. I beleive the others have had a more exciting interface with this wine and hope that perhaps this just needs more time to unfold. But I am skeptical as I do not sense the same St Julien fine military grandeur that a Ducrcu, Beychevelle or Leoville delivers. Interesting to see that Jancis downgraded her score over time.

Bordeaux night: Full-on modern with a creamy milkshake texture, blackcurrant, plum and liquorice notes. Too polished and international for my liking.

Nose shows brumble but it’s subdues. Medium acidity and tannins, this showed much better on day 2, with forest floor, coffee beans, blackberries, belle papers; ending was pretty long with some oak. Still young, it needed a lot of air to open up, but then it was showing very nicely. I would wait 4-5 years honestly, but even with that this is delicious already - just give it a lot of air.

The end of the 12 case. We’ve had a few corked ones, but mostly delicious aged claret, this time showing its mature mixed berry fruit along with settled and relaxed tannin. I wouldn’t say this has changed that all that much over the decade or so I’ve had it, despite some nervousness at points. I don’t think I would say no to another case of 12 really. A very solid claret.

Edge beginning to dull, dark red centre. Muted nose. Still smooth and hugely enjoyable. Smooth and fruity in the mouth, dry on the swallow but still berry fruit on the finish. Fruit still winning. Drink up.

After reading all reviews of distinguish and noble members of the CT I have to conclusions that I had completely different wine.
First of all the wine penetrated no more then a half millimeter of cork( I took a picture).
Second - about 3 months ago I had 2001 vintage and I liked it - 95 points.
And how about this one?
15 minutes in the decanter.

First sip and I immediately knew it was better! Very powerful wine, that stays on darker side of the Force 😎
Black coffee and black tea, black currant, black chocolate ( is it Merlot from the right bank? 😉), tobacco, mocca.
Very grippy tannins, dry, long finish with cinnamon ( nice!).
Smell is incredible complex and rich. Blackberry, black currant, cedar, graphite, milk chocolate, tobacco, plum, vanilla and more sweet aromas.
Delicious, highly drinkable wine for all kinds of drinker profiles.
I would bet 100% that 2004 had more Merlot than 2001, but I would be wrong.
2001- 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot &
5% Cabernet Franc
2004 - 70% cabernet sauvignon
20% merlot, 2% petit verdot, 8% cabernet franc

And be smart here, little man 🙄

2004 was rated the same like 2001 - 88 points according to the WA Vintage Guide.

Decanted for 3 hours. Very approachable at this stage, but still quite primary. The tannins have softened but are still prominent. Dark berries, spice, graphite and a hint of mushroom.

Deep ruby colour.

Pronounced aromas of cassis, blackberry, black cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, licorice, graphite, cedar, tobacco, mint, lavender, a hint of mushroom.

Pronounced palate.

Medium (+) body, high acidity, high tannin, long finish.
