Had this bottle in succession with the same vintage of Leoville Barton. I liked the '19 vintage of Langoa better that the '20 Langoa. This was initially a bit dilute and needed a lot of time for the fruit to emerge. Not as concentrated as the '19. Very primary though in an elegant way. Three days to finish.

2019 Langoa seems significantly a step above the 2020 Langoa. Not that 2020 Langoa sucks. I rate it a solid 92 points. It is richly inviting St. Julien purple, it just seems a little out of balance compared to the 2019. Maybe it’s just that I tried the two year-apart vintages in the same week and they’re in a slightly different place. To me, the 2019 Langoa epitomizes the flair and personality of that 2019 vintage and that has some of us, myself included, wondering whether it surpasses even the epic 2016 vintage. This 2020 is rich and savory, I thought there was almost a burnt quality to it, I just think it lacked some of the pop and sassiness of the 2019. Who knows. I’ll rate this a solid 92 points, not sure I’ll buy more, I may buy even more of the 2019 if the price is right. Rating: 92 points.

Super fresh red berries, blackcurrant, lovely cedar notes complete the rather welcoming nose. Slightly dilute on the palate but, unlike the Mauvesin, there is a sense of balance. Interesting, slight non-intrusive alcohol warmth helps carry the finish, woody tannins offer a slightly coarse burr. Nice

Langtons Bordeaux 2020 Arrival Tasting (Sydney, Australia): Pleasant but a little empty and dry.
