Decanted for 3 hours. Lively fruit and spicy delivery but tannins very present and leave a dry mouth feel. Opened too young

It is not that this is not a well made wine and RP gave it 100 pts, but for me this is not my style. At over15 degrees alcohol it is too much and a little monolithic. If you want this much alcohol choose an a good Amarone or Port which will have a greater spice profile. Too much heat and there are better cndps like Bonneau who can carry the weight. Became drinkable with a good gorgonzola

I have always struggled with calon segur. It feels austere and the 1995 was no different. I tasted after too short a decant and it did get better with more time but it tasted stemmy and lacking fruit maturity and beginning to thin out. Again this improved after time in decanter. Definitely needs food to be enjoyable

Feels rounder than my last tasting but boy am I enjoying this. Grapefruit slightly withdrawn and red fruit more to the front. The rest as per last tasting. This is as a contrast to the acidity of the more dominant Chardonnay driven champagnes. Maybe not as complex as some blanc de blancs but what a pleasure. For me drinking pleasure

This is such a complex wine and it’s medium acidity for such a rich flavour profile polarises views. At this age the peach has a honeyed note and mouthfeel is unctuous and at 14% no dancer but not not a bruiser. So many opinions about its age worthiness but to be honest so much bottle variation it is difficult to generalise. This one was a delight of power richness but balance. Colour is straw gold and honey and peach and even a hint of very ripe melon is a delight. Food pairing is essential but difficult. Oh joy

Absolutely delicious though slightly more taught than last tasting. Did line up bonneau du marteau, Bouchard, prieur and boillot 07 in comparative tasting and group ranked them Bonneau, boillot, prieur, Bouchard but all fantastic and close. Fun

Been dying to try a bottle since i bought 2cases. To me the nose has it all at this stage if you like that selosse/bollinger oxidative note combined with toasted yeastiness. On the mouth it is surprisingly linear, more classic blanc de blanc. I was almost hoping for ore of the nose to have translated into the taste. Perhaps with time.

Reminds me why one smiles when you first put your nose in glass of burgundy. Very much in phase 1 on the fruit. Red fruit on a vanilla platform but soft tannin. Should develop well after its dormant "apres le fruit". Challenge will be not dipping into stock.

This is my first 100%pinot champagne, and what a treat on the nose it is pink grapefruit meets a yeasty hint of brioche, but the brioche more at the bready end than vanilla end of brioche. On the palate it feels slightly sweeter end of grapefruit but toastiness tempers the sweet note. Bubbles very fine and without being agressive. Just lovely and plenty in the tank to keep going for some time.

really enjoyed this , lovely balance rich golden colour, slight yeasty notes and mild noisette. Think this will continue to improve and the flavour profile become more pronounced. Fine bubbles and not to much acidity.

Just lovely. Opened first night and had a glass. It has all the components of a lovely champagne but improved on second day. The slightly aggressive acidity and gas had made way for a lovely balance of fruit and early toastiness. This is still young and should improve if i keep it in cellar. Effortless drinking champagne

First night felt it was rather sour and unyielding, but on second night it began to reveal its potential. It has a balanced concentration with lemon and first hints of more honeyed notes. It has a long way to go so this was infanticide. If you are going to drink now give plenty of air and open in advance

Lovely balance, early stages of development of the more mature bread, almonds register. Still good citrus fruit to balance and tastes younger than 1995. Just an excellent more complex champagne and will evolve further positively, shame i am down to last bottle

slightly musty on opening but opened up, with sour cherry notes which have a slightly sweet acidic finish. Just a lovely bottle which as is typical of Rene Engel, a lovely balance and in no way tiring on the palate. Loved it

Agree with previous commentator. Just lovely and complex with big fruit balanced with enough acidity. Oak is under control, and yes watch the fine sediment. Still slightly dry finish.

I feared for this having read previous two notes. Actually it was lovely, very light in colour and lovely balance of acidity surprisingly sweet attack on well defined fruit. Fine layers of tertiary notes but not the forest floor variety just confit fruit but light. Certainly no fatigue on the palate after several glasses. Just classic old style brunello built on fruit and acidic balance.

Sadly this had a bit of bottle stink, which is not the first time I have had this problem with Dominus. Getting past the nose was difficult but on the palate was fine, shame about the nose. Used Coravin so will see if stink disolves
