1990 Château-Grillet (Neyret-Gachet) Château-GrilletViognier more |
3/24/2024 - Jammy Wine wrote: 93 pointsPerfect example of age-worthy Viognier. 30 years old yet the freshness is comparable to a white Burgundy with half its age. Touch of dusty / musty sous bois initially, but blew off quickly, leaving behind a beautiful array of citrus fruits and lemon oil. Waxy and creamy, An incredible testimony on age-worthy Viognier. |

NV La Rogerie Champagne Grand Cru Lieux de VieChardonnay more |
1/8/2024 - Jammy Wine wrote: 90 pointsBase 2020. La Rogerie, a new producer under my radar, good friends of Selosse and uses Selosse barrels. Similar style to Selosse, slightly oxidative and hints of sherry smell that Selosse have. Expressive and ripe array of Chardonnay fruits from Avize, ripe citrus, stone fruits and apples with smart undertone of oak toast. Nice purity and intensity. Not cheap nor easy to find, but supposedly there will be more volume next year. (90-91/100) |

2015 Domaine Bizot Marsannay Clos du RoyPinot Noir more |
1/8/2024 - Jammy Wine wrote: 90 pointsThe 2015 Bizot Marsannay Clos du Roy is elegant and flamboyant. It offers a fresh and expressive array of high-toned new oak spices, polished fruits and rose petals. Like any Bizot wines, they tend to age faster than usual due to the lack of sulphuring. Feels 5-8 years older but incredibly fragrant and delicious. Light tannins with good length. Such a luscious expression of Marsannay. Drink now – 2030. (90+/100) |

2015 Frédéric Cossard Bonnes MaresBonnes Mares Grand Cru Pinot Noir more |
1/8/2024 - Jammy Wine wrote: 91 pointsOne of Cossard’s best vintages in my opinion. His 2015 are beautifully fragrant and expressive. This rare Bonnes Mares (only 285 bottles) has a beautiful array of sweet berries and strawberries, textbook Cossard yeasty finish (fairly mild in 2015 so not offensive). Similar to the 2015 Chambolle Musigny, charming and fruity, this Bonnes Mares offers more weight and complexity. Some grip on the backbone. Drink now to 2028. (91/100) |

2018 Richard Leroy Chenin Les Noëls de MontbenaultVin de France Chenin Blanc more |
1/8/2024 - Jammy Wine wrote: 90 pointsAnother lovely vintage from Richard Leroy. While the 2018 is not as reductive as the 2013, it offers a clean and expressive array of apple-ly and citrus-y fruits, subtle tone of natural yeast (reminds me of Claire Naudin whites). Drinking well already and should continue to age for another decade. Slightly heady at 14% alcohol but balanced nicely with razor-sharp acidity. (90/100) |

2009 Domaine Leroy Nuits St. Georges Aux AllotsPinot Noir more |
1/8/2024 - Jammy Wine wrote: 89 pointsWhile the 2009 Leroy Nuits Saint Georges Aux Allots offers a nice bouquet of sleek spices and dense dark fruit substance, it doesn’t have “Leroy magic” that you would find in a Leroy from the 00s onwards. Undoubtably NSG terroir style of slightly tannic backbone, smokey new oak flavours, densely-packed mixed fruits on the mid-palate. Nice wine but underwhelming compared to her 09 Savigny Les Beaune Les Nabatons or 09 Vosne Romanee… (89-90/100) |

2009 Joseph Drouhin Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les AmoureusesPinot Noir more |
12/31/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 90 pointsThis bottle of 2009 Joseph Drouhin Amoureuses is more evolved than the last few bottles I’ve had from the same case. Showing tertiary aromas of savoury cherry, game, and leather. Ageing faster than expected, yet it feels resolved and majestic, not “dodgy” ageing. Perhaps just another 2009 that is ageing faster than expected, will try another bottle soon. (90/100) |

2016 Domaine Bizot Bourgogne Le ChapitrePinot Noir more |
12/31/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 91 pointsThe 2016 Bizot Le Chapitre is drinking beautifully today, sweet fruited and perfumed. From a 0.5ha plot just south of Dijon, this Bourgogne offers serious intensity and depth. In blind, I would likely call this a Premier Cru, maybe Gevrey Chambertin? Fragrant array of raspberry, candied cherry, and confectioned spices from 100% new oak. 100% whole cluster and not filtered. Firm backbone but very delicate still. Delicious. (91/100) |

2019 Pierre Girardin Bâtard-MontrachetBâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay more |
12/25/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 93 pointsThe 2019 Pierre Vincent Girardin Batard Montrachet refreshingly, dose not have a single hint of overripeness / high alcohol tone like most Batard Montrachet. Reductive tone with high purity. Transparent citrus and white tree fruits, reminds me of Comte Lafon Meursault Perrieres 2014 I tasted two days ago, but less ‘Meursault’-esque. A beautifully crafted wine with great balance and harmony. Bienvenue Batard Montrachet 2018? (92-93/100) |

1998 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut CollectionChampagne Blend more |
12/23/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 91 points1998 Krug was and has been one of my favourite vintage Krug for a long while. One of the few vintages of Chardonnay dominant release, after 1981. 46% Chardonnay. Collection 1998 normal disgorgement date but stored in Domaine cellar until 2022. At its peak, fully mature showing a nicely laced array of bruised apples, apricot and lemonade. Quite smoky with a tertiary profile. Drink now - 2026. (91/100) |

2015 Ao YunChina Red Bordeaux Blend more |
10/23/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 90 pointsTasted blind and guessed Napa Cabernet Franc / Cabernet Sauvignon. Rich and fruity array of cassis, tomato leaf, vanilla wood spices and mulberry. Very polished tannins and sense of suave. This vintage showed particular greeness from Cab Franc, very grassy. 15.5% alcohol but hard to tell, also the new norm in Bordeaux these days! (90/100) |

2010 Sylvain Cathiard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru En OrveauxPinot Noir more |
9/24/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 91 pointsThe 2010 Cathiard Vosne Romanee En Orveaux is maturing gracefully, offering a subtle touch of tertiary note behind a fragrant array of mixed berries, rose petal and subtle new oak. Well-integrated and sophisticated. A classic producer and recognisable in blind tasting. My guess: 2010 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru. Drink now - 2032. (91/100) |

2013 Georges Noellat Grands-EchezeauxGrands-Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir more |
8/4/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 88 pointsThis 2013 Grands Echezeaux feels like it’s going downhill, confirms my suspicion that it has already peaked in 2019 from my last bottle. Served next to 17 Petits Monts and 17 Chambolle Feusellottes. Showing maturing notes of saturated cherry and hints of charcuterie. Gentle extraction with a smokey wood backbone. Drink up! (88/100) |

2017 Georges Noellat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits MontsPinot Noir more |
8/4/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 90 pointsServed blind next to 17 Chambolle Feusselottes and 13 Echezeaux, Petits Monts being the most restrained one initially. Powerful array of dark fruits and polished tannins, a bit more substance than the 2017 Chambolle Musigny Les Fusellottes but slightly less floral. Complex and nuanced. Drink from 2025-2043. (90/100) |

2017 Maxime Cheurlin Noëllat Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les FeusselottesPinot Noir more |
8/3/2023 - Jammy Wine Likes this wine: 91 pointsWhen négociant wine outperforms the Domaine. Blind next to 17 Petits Monts and much more charming and perfumed on first pour. Perfumed with a sweet array of black cherries and strawberries. Sweet wood spices intertwined. Drinking beautifully already. Chambolle Musigny on steroids. (91/100) |

2015 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St. JacquesPinot Noir more |
5/4/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 90 pointsThe 2015 Rousseau Lavaux St Jacques is fleshy and robust. Ripe mixed fruits, low pitched berries and earthy minerality. Surprisingly more rustic than other young Rousseau I have tasted, bold rather than elegant side of the spectrum for Rousseau. Ripe cherries on the mid-palate with fine grained tannins on the finish. (90/100) |

2002 Didier Dagueneau SilexPouilly-Fumé Sauvignon Blanc more |
5/4/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 91 pointsRare to come across aged Sauvignon Blanc, especially with 20 years of age. This 2002 Silex is complex and vibrant, bright acidity and plenty of fruits left for a 20 year old. One notable aroma with aged Sauvignon Blanc is a waxy/ plastic note. Waxy yellow orchard fruits, white flowers, smokey wood spices (Jean-Claude toned down the new oak to 25% in 2002). While it’s lovely to drink them mature, I don’t see how it improves with further ageing. (91/100) |

2010 Coche-Dury MeursaultChardonnay more |
5/4/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 91 pointsIntense array of ripe yellow fruits and a pinch of exotic fruits (which can be found in plenty 2010 Cote de Beaune whites). Full throttle knocking on 1er Cru doors, plenty of leesy texture with fine acidity balance. Slightly fuller bodied and oakier than other vintages. Touch of tertiary note of honey and hazelnuts. Delicious albeit a muscular portrait of Coche Meursault. Drink now – 2026, for those who are lucky enough to have this, enjoy sooner than later to avoid top-heavy! (91/100) |

1999 Coche-Dury MeursaultChardonnay more |
5/4/2023 - Jammy Wine Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis 1999 Meursault is likely the most reductive Coche Dury I have tasted. At 23 years of age, it does not show much signs of ageing. Beautifully expressive bouquet of sweet citrus & white fruits and buttery popcorn. Some saline and spice touch underneath the layer of reduction. Relatively light bodied compared to more recent vintages, but compensated by its stunning bouquet. Gorgeous today but will continue to age for another decade (minimum). An incredible village wine! 1999 Sine Qua Non Pinot Noir OxYamhill County more |
5/4/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 90 pointsSine Qua Non made Pinot Noir between 1996-2005, from Shea Vineyard in Willamette Valley. 14.0% alcohol for the 1999. A forward nose of plush red cherries, mulberry, deeply laced spices and chalk. Full bodied with subtle elegance and nuances. As if we mash the structure of 1999 red Burgundy with the ripe fruits from 2003 together. Unusual yet charming but certainly not worth paying 4 digits for a bottle. While the alcohol level was not unbalanced, I feel they are best at making Rhone Valley blends instead. (90/100) |

2006 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti RichebourgRichebourg Grand Cru Pinot Noir more |
5/4/2023 - Jammy Wine Likes this wine: 94 pointsExpectation is always high when it comes to prestigious Domaines. With that in mind, this is still an outperforming 2006 that is ageing gracefully with barely any peppery note. Fragrant red berries, strawberries, sweet rose petals and sleek mineral undertone. Delineated with fine-grained tannins, really well-integrated and poised. Many 2006 reds have tertiary notes of wet autumn leaves and musty earth scents, this however is clean and primary. Hint of tertiary note of dry aged ham intertwined with the sweet stem note. In my opinion this is at a great stage to enjoy now, slightly saturated with touch of maturity, but plenty of freshness and floral notes left in the tank. Effortless finish, delicious. (93-94/100) |

2013 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les EmbrazéesChardonnay more |
3/18/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 90 pointsPYCM prior to 2015 vintage are still distinctively highly reductive, since 2015 they have toned down/ refined the reduction slightly. Tasted blind – Tightly wound reduction initially, but blossomed and reviewed beautiful finesse after 20 mins in the glass. Fresh array of laced white tree fruits, toasted wood and spices. Sappy with lovely acidity. Guessed it was a 2018 Chassagne Montrachet, clearly reduction did the trick here! (90/100) |

2012 Nicolas Maillart Champagne Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Les Chaillots GillisChardonnay more |
3/18/2023 - Jammy Wine Likes this wine: 90 points100% Chardonnay. Barrel fermentation, zero dosage. Ripe and energetic with beautifully laced berries and ripe citrus fruits. The phenolic ripeness gives an impression of pinot fruits even though it’s 100% Chardonnay. Generous mouthfeel, toast, and a touch of nuts. Drinking deliciously already and should hold for another decade or so. (90/100) |

1999 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée Les GenaivrièresPinot Noir more |
1/25/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 93 pointsGenerally, I prefer younger Domaine Leroy (from 2000s) as I have had a mixed bag of quality from Leroy between 1988-99, I find them lack the extraordinary floral charm that young Leroy offers (and no, white cap Maison is not even close to the Domaine quality!). The 1999 Genevrieres is up to scratch with the splendid 2009, offering a dazzling bouquet of sweet raspberry, rose petals, and smoked game note that I relate to in this commune. Smooth tannins with an exotic oak spice touch, and nuanced complexity from head to toe. The 99 has the depth and balance to last for a decade more at least. (93/100) |

2009 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée Les GenaivrièresPinot Noir more |
1/25/2023 - Jammy Wine wrote: 93 pointsThe 09 Genaivrieres has a translucent light ruby/deep pink rim, a colour we normally associate with older Pinot Noir. Interestingly quite common in the younger vintage of Domaine Leroy I’ve come across. Gorgeous bouquet of ripe black cherry, intensely fragrant rose petals and exotic spices (that many Burgundy drinkers crave for in the finest Pinot Noir), cloves and underbrush. Sweet ripe fruits with graceful tannins, exquisite aromas and wonderfully satisfying finish. Equally as delicious the 99 Genaivrieres served next to it. (93/100) |
