Are the high scoring Chateauneufs the 21st century version of the 1990s Oz Shiraz?

Introduction

The Oenophillies got together for some good wines and the theme emerged of "High End" Chateauneufs. This is as much a report of how they tasted as a realization. Below find my tasting notes. But although individually tasted they were impressive, I quickly found them to be overwhelming, like C9P on steroids and HGH. These impressed me as the stereotypical Parker high scores-you know the ones-rich, impressive at a tasting, but ultimately tiring to taste much of and the high alcohol tires the body as well. Then it occurred to me. I have been here before-with the Shiraz craze in the 1990s. There were the shiraz that were commonly found, drinkable, nice, a fighting variety for Zinfandel. But then Parker discovered the Grateful Palate with a bag full of shiraz on steroids. High scores and higher prices quickly followed. Those that care generally knows what followed. Ultimately, will this be the fate of these C9P bombs in 10 more years? Hmmm, I wonder...
