3/6/2019 - David_T Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis is singing. Red/black cherry, cocoa, a bit of earth. Integrated medium acid/tannins. A touch floral. Long finish, balanced. Just everything once could ask for in a merlot. |

8/21/2016 - David_T Does not like this wine: 80 pointsAs JJLGD asks, where's the fruit? This is all oak and tannins. The structure is there (medium acid, medium+ tannins) but needs fruit to brighten it up. |

3/9/2014 - David_T Likes this wine: 91 pointsPleasant aromas of cocoa, red cherry, herbs and ink. The flavors showcase red and black cherries and raspberries followed by cocoa, a hint of cedar and herbs/earth. Still young with medium+ tannins and acid. Perhaps a touch pricey at $40 Ohio retail as Ben mentioned below, but a tasty well made wine. |

2/16/2014 - David_T wrote: 88 pointsThis had something that seemed a bit off on the pnp but that was completely gone on day two. Aromas of red raspberries/cherries, earth and herbs. The palate matches with the earth/herbs coming through just as much if not a bit more than the fruit. Medium acid/tannins/finish, tastes a bit bigger than many merlot. |

Seamless transition to a full midpalate and long finish. High acidity, soft & gentle tannins. Drink now or over the next 2-4 years. |

12/19/2011 - David_T wrote: 100 pointsMy first 100 point wine, then a second (Buffalo, NY): This is an OMG wine that stopped everyone in their tracks as soon as we first inhaled, and only got better when it touched our lips. That moment was as exhilarating as when your favorite band first takes the stage & turns up the amp starting to play your favorite song with you in the front row- it just doesn't get better. I actually didn't write much down besides "nose- unspeakable. tobacco, earth. flavors: coffee/earth/chocolate..." and I stopped writing so my attention couldn't be anywhere but the marvelous wine in front of me. I briefly glanced up only to see five other people with giddy looks on their faces, silent in awe as Bocelli played in the speakers. Complex, powerful, balanced, finish goes on and on, and you just can't stop thinking about it. Wow. |

12/19/2011 - David_T wrote: 95 pointsMy first 100 point wine, then a second (Buffalo, NY): Oh boy what a big wine. The nose was exactly like a glazed ham with notes of pineapple, meat, brown sugar. As soon as the wine entered my mouth it created a black vortex of flavors- deep, dark, and dense with ink, blueberry, and the pineapple from the nose carried through as well. Huge tannins that did not get in the way of the flavors. Very concentrated and complex. Long finish. Already classic but with the potential to improve as it integrates and settles a bit. |

Full, rich palate of plum, blackberry, pepper. Tannic yet smooth, perfectly balanced. LONG finish of plum and pepper. This really shows what merlot is capable of. |

2/28/2011 - David_T wrote: 88 pointsEven though it can drive now, this is still drinking fine- on a pnp bright cherries & cranberries on the nose & palate. As it's sat open for an hour, some of the fruit has made way to a chocolate/dried leaf/brush component. Still an acidic kick and pleasant finish. |

10/6/2009 - David_T wrote: 90 pointsI personally have a hard time finding a merlot I enjoy, but this fit the bill. Oaky on the nose, but the palate was loaded with red cherry & blueberry (almost Gusher-like to use a Garyveeism) and chocolate; the oak did not come through there nearly as much. Soft but good tannins with a lengthy finish. |
