Decanted and aerated to 2 hours in the late afternoon, then rebottled and consumed at dinner with beef tenderloin. Fairly high EtOH without food, but at the table with food was not notably hot. The tannins have somewhat resolved, but there is still a nice tannic grip on the mid-palate and aftertaste. The taste is full-bodied, intensive, rich and fruity, displaying lovely notes of raspberry compote, ripe dark fruits, provencal herbs, tobacco and smoke. This wine is having a strong authentic regional character, but it also provides lots of pure enjoyment. |

I have a new respect for this wine. Mint, and dark chocolate. Blackberry and leather. Very nice. Nice spiciness, acid is a bit high. This wine may have turned a corner into a really good spot. Hint of tar that gives a bitterness that adds character. |
