Love the bouquet on this wine. Mouthwatering on the palate. Nice texture, too.

Rich plum and black cherry with undifferentiated sweetness and faint green tobacco leaf. Ripe, round, and fleshy, but with structure and spine. Loads of concentrated fruit that unwinds with air. Lacking a bit of nuance, but a really impressive QPR that has better days to come. A clear winner in the crowded 03 Bordeaux entry level field. Wish I'd bought more than a handful.

24 hours later, I opned up the last half of the bottle. Smooth, elegant, well balanced. Fruit forward cherries and dark berries. Next time I open one of these up, open in the a.m. for a 12 hour decant. Most of the tannic nature that came with the cedar disappeared.

Dark ruby color. At first pour, mostly cedar with some menthol. That dissapated in glass but not a huge nose. Very subtle dark fruit. Same on palate. Nice mouth feel. Lacking in fruit department but enough tannins to give it good structure. Will it gt better with time. Not sure if fruit will return. No consumed with food. Note to self...May be better with food.

Wasn't too solid the first night but certainly opened up and is quite good the second night. Made the mistake of drinking this after a BR Cohn Cab. Very french

Calming down. Menthol, bright cherry, kiln-dried wood. Like visiting an old french chateau and walking into the bathroom.

This wine held up wondefully since I last tasted it two years ago. Typical Bordeaux nose of cedar and dark fruits, medium finish and integrated tannins. Good QPR for $18.99, should have bought a case.

Once again, a terrific $6 bottle of wine. This might be my favorite value purchase from Garagiste. Nicely balanced "luncheon claret"-not overly extracted or fruity, but good fruit with fair tannins. I liked all of my bottles of this wine better than 2002 Grand Puy Lacoste at 5-6 times the price.

Initially pretty tight and tannic, so I opened my Vinturi which I just got from a friend and aerated it. It opened up quite nicely, the tannins smoothed out and the dark berry accents came through. It had good structure, although this is not a 20 year cellar wine by any means. Very good for the price.

Opened and served right away. Slightly closed on nose at first but then gave some hints of dark ripe red cherries, cassis and black licorice. Some greeness on the palate with flavours of red fruits and tobacco. High acidity, medium to full body, medium to high tannins with a smooth finish. Silky mouth feel. Hold for a few years before opening another. Very good. 88+

This half-bottle was really good tonight. Chateau Gigault is in Cotes de Blaye, just across the Gironde River from the famed St. Julien appelation. This is a Merlot-dominated blend, with only about 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Earllier bottles that I've had of the '05 have been a tad astringent, but this one was drinking well.

Good basic Bordeaux…popped and poured, it was initially closed. Opened up over an hour in the bottle. Nose of deep red fruit, wood and foural notes. Fruit and some vanilla on the palate. The tannins were prominent, but not overpowering. 88-89.

I think this will hit its stride in a year or two, and last for 4 or 5. At currently prices, you'd have a hard time doing as well with a CA merlot or meritage. At the futures price ~$14, you couldn't.

($15) Deep color, with a nose of ink and a touch of wood. Ripe, if a bit hard and hollow. Very nice for inexpensive Bordeaux.

I wish I had another 6 bottles of this wine. It is a great quaffer for 6 bones. Dark purple with good translucence. No real perceived bricking. The nose has gorgeous bordeaux depth. Sweet spice box and leather. Easy and pleasing aged bordeaux. It's not overly complex but this is fantastic qpr. I tried to pick up more bottles and they are all out. Anyone have wine they don't want let me know. Thin leather seats to the taste. Reasonably long finish for the price and year. Great find Jon R.

Classic bordeaux aromas of blackberry, graphite and leather. Still fresh with firm tannins - no danger of this going over the hill until 2012-2015 at least.
