2019 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Black Labelmore |
5/8/2024 - Psdycp wrote: 89 pointsQuite a shy nose right from the bottle. This needs a good decanting of at least 2 hours to release the aromatics. More vegetal notes and less fruit forward than previous vintage. Very high level of acidity but it is balanced by the juicy fruits and smooth tannins. Medium-bodied with an opaque structure not letting |

5/7/2024 - Psdycp wrote: 91 pointsFragrant and deep aroma of ripe black plums, black peppers, intense clove and hints of toasted oak on the nose. Palate is less forward and more elegant than what the nose suggested. Felt more like a cool climate Shiraz from Victoria on the palate. Medium-bodied with some tannins to support proper aging. Good level of acidity running through from entry to an extended mid-palate and velvety spicy finish. This lacked some density and depth compared to the winery Joanna Shiraz on the palate. Almost at its finest peak now and will continue to drink nicely for the next 3-5 years. |

5/6/2024 - owr wrote: 91 pointsOpened 8 bottles of 2001 wine ... 4 were ok, drinkable even - but this wynns was the best of the bunch. Still has dark fruit and even a hint of chocolate - pretty impressive for a "cheap" bottle (at the time). Smooth and really enjoyable, with enough fruit and tannins. |

5/5/2024 - ShadowIII Likes this wine: 96 pointsReal stunner, great nose, still youthful with blackberry, spice, cassis, tobacco, cedar notes, long finish, a rare treat, 61% Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Kalimna (Barossa) Shiraz. Spent 22 months in new American oak hogsheads (from Derek Darth's note) |

Huge huge wine no doubt, but less in my face this time around and not so alcohol out of balance, not sure why. Hey ho, one more left, fingers crossed hey. Drink sooner rather than later before any remaining fruit drops, as with all big % wines I guess. |

5/4/2024 - gsroppsa Likes this wine: 90 pointsDeep ink cherry in colour, this is a medium to full bodied shiraz with relatively good balance. An oakey and fruity nose which settled after short decant. On the palate it's very fruit forward with notes of plum and blackberry, not overly complex. An enjoyable lingering finish with dusty and grainy tannins which smoothed out over time. |

4/28/2024 - graemeg wrote: NR{cork, 13.6%} Level right at the base of the neck. Cork about a third soaked. Decanted off plenty of sediment and then served. Classic old Coonawarra, with a lash of mint, but also leathery currants and vanilla oak, nicely judged (last JR made by John Wade I think?). Medium/full weight, softly resolved dusty tannins, medium acidity. Medium/long finish, very good indeed. Really impressive. |

4/28/2024 - red.red.vino wrote: 88 pointsIn the decanter, starting drinking immediately and finished over 3 hours. Little bits of sweet redcurrant, however heavily masked by lead, tobacco leaf and cigar box. Quite one dimensional and a tad boring unfortunately. Drink over the next 18 months, it is unlikely to develop. |
