Licorice and herbal scents. No oxidation. Dry, layered, and very textural. By default, I guessed Pinot Gris from the early 2000’s. Although I have tasted 1976 late harvest Hugel Pinot Gris, I had never had a dry one with this sort of age, and I was amazed by its freshness. Alsatian Pinot Gris can have incredible mouth feel, but with aging, I think the Rieslings retain much more flavor interest. |
