Really good riesling. Yellow peach, citrus, mineral note, good acidity. Reach, oily and fresh at the same time. Very enjoyable!

The edges on this are pretty sharp, with bright acidity and prickly minerals. But there is enough fruit to hold it together, and the energy here is really attractive. I bet this improves with a few more years.

I seem to like this much more than the previous reviewers. I was blown away by the balance as this transitions into a mature wine with interesting secondary elements. Shows a slightly above medium straw yellow color in the glass with above average viscosity. Nose is pure Pfalz: lychee, guava, lemon peel, but evolving into caramel and a touch of smoke, again, opening a window on its evolution. Like all B-W wines (at any price point) I found a superb level of acidity, just about right - not sure how they do it. Finish lingered wonderfully but also hinted of what was to come given petrol scents haven’t even kicked in yet. Might be 95+ in a few years, my delineation between great and elite wine.

100% biodynamically farmed Riesling, sourced from the Gaisböhl vineyard, a monopole of Dr. Bürklin-Wolf and considered to be Grand Cru-level ("GC") by the winery. 12,5% alcohol, 3 g/l residual sugar and 8,1 g/l acidity.

Pale lime-green color. The nose feels clean, fragrant and nuanced with attractive aromas of ripe Golden Delicious apple and yellow stone fruits, some stony mineral tones, a little bit of beeswax, light spicy nuances, a perfumed hint of floral character and a touch of fresh pineapple. The wine feels focused, quite powerful and somewhat concentrated on the palate with a relatively full body and very intense, dry flavors of ripe lemony citrus fruits and fresh Golden Delicious apples, some stony mineral notes, a little bit of beeswax, light saline nuances, a hint of apple peel bitterness and a touch of yellow stone fruits. The tight, bracing acidity lends tons of structure, intensity and almost nervous energy to the wine, but thanks to the ripeness and sense of concentration, the wine doesn't feel too lean or high-strung at any point. The finish is very long, quite concentrated and rather incisive with a ripe yet acid-driven aftertaste of saline minerality and ripe lemony citrus fruits, some juicy golden apple tones, a little bit of beeswax, light mineral notes of wet rocks, a hint of cantaloupe and a sweeter touch of greengage.

An impressive, ripe and concentrated yet at the same time remarkably acid-driven Riesling. In our tasting of ten 2021 GG Rieslings, this was easily among the best and most impressive wines - for me, only behind the impactful 2021 Von Winning GG Ungeheuer. Contrasting this 2021 with the 2020 vintage we tasted a year before, I feel the 2020 was more impressive and while also youthful, maybe a bit more open for business. This 2021 felt a bit leaner and less expressive - despite being a bold and intense wine to boot - but that might be just because of the huge acidity here! In all likelihood, this wine is just way too young for its own good and it will just take more time before this wine is as open as the 2020. However, I'd say both the vintages seem to have tons of potential for future development and might end up being equally great with enough age. I'd let this wine age for another 10-ish years, because it really feels like it is built for the long haul. If there is something I want to nag about, it's the price - at 70€ this is starting to get too expensive for my preference.

Intense yellow fruited nose with good acidity. Better after two hours. Very balanced with an intense fruitiness and ripe acidity. For sure will improve over the next 5 years.

Tart apple in front of a fairly wound up core and a finish on acidity. I didn't get much complexity here, might have been in the wrong context.

Vintage and Vine Grand Cru Riesling tasting (Bentley Bar & Restaurant, Sydney): Rich, ripe,, the fruit is a little muted though, contrarily. In the mouth it's tangy, juicy, savoury though, arguably, a little anonymous...travels long. Hmm

This is balancing on a perfect plateau now. Deep straw color nearing the gold tone of an old wine. Expressive nose of peach, yellow apples, citrus, a hint of grape, and a backbone of slate and petroleum. Complex. Full bodied attack, filling the moth with an oily feel up front. Then the acidity kicks in on the mid palate, making the full fruit seem almost not present. On the aftertaste the extremely fine acidity balances perfectly with the fruity tones of peach, yellow apples, citrus. The finish is fresh as mountain river in Norway, but also full of fruity and mineral tones. The aftertaste is extremely long and fresh, with a fascinating salty touch at the end. Perfect to drink now, but will keep for who knows how long?

Very much on the stony, yellow fruit, chalky, vertical, dry - and drinking a point, I think. Better with food, I think.

Clear, pale golden color. Beautiful nose with lots of salted lemon, smoke and spices. Deep and dense. On the palate as well very dense and deep, salty, smoky, spicy, lots of ripe fruit. Complex, long. Needs at least 5+ years. 93++

Clear, medium color. Lively nose, a bit sweet/sour.
On the palate not as convincing as my last bottle. Nervous, a bit unbalanced, sweet fruit, very mineral, beautiful energy, spicy, a bit Marzipan. Needs time to blend in. 90+

Joy to come back to Gaisbohl, even more so to taste it from magnum, probably one of the reasons it is still in a pristine fresh state. Intense and ripe aroma of passionfruit, mango, pineapple, acacia, honey, apricot, peach. Medium body, concentrated and intense deep flavours, just not as sweet and lush as suggested by aroma. Still full of Burklin style, rich and round with full mouthfeel. Just a slight pleasant sweetness is cut by razor sharp pronounced high acidity, concludes with a long and refreshing finish.

Quite austere, intriguing nose with white peach , (unripe) pineapple , chalk and acacia, dashes of lemon zest and honey

Well balanced and complex on the palate with a lot of tension and grip balancing the supple body , beautiful acidity balancing the fruit, long finish with an aftertaste of citrus and bergamot

Excellent Pfalz dry Riesling at or near peak.

Light yellow color reflecting its youth, a complex of exotic fruit leaps out of the glass showing roasted pineapple, green plum, and kiwi crowned by zingy macerated gooseberry aromas and bound by a soft yeasty character reminiscent of pizza dough wayyy in the background.

The palate is still very tightly wound up and showing primary fruit flavors of northern peach, green plum, and gooseberry with tingling acidity evoking a squeeze of fresh Calamansi juice. Minerals represent by a still-distant petrol note on the back end (none yet detected on the nose) and a steely character one expects from a fine dry Riesling. The balance between minerals, fruit, and acid is just incredible such that it Can at times feel plush on the tongue in spite of its racy acidity.

Thoroughly enjoyable and quenching, I struggle to find anything wrong with this wine, although no doubt it will blossom into much more over a decade or two. The rest of these bottles will be laid down until after 2030.

Quite shy - taken in a closed phase. Nose quite exsotic, mainly papaya and passionfruit and some citrus. Quite yellow. Changed after some minuttes to be more concentrated and longer. Missing some complexity, but balance is good, so taken to early I exspect.
