8/3/2023 - jst914 Likes this wine: 96 pointsSensational wine! Decanted for 30 minutes and drank over the next hour. Got better and better the longer it breathed and the more it warmed up. One of the best examples of California fruit and a Burgundian approach to the vineyards and wine making I’ve ever had. If you’re fortunate enough to have some, decant a bottle and enjoy! |

9/4/2022 - jst914 wrote: flawedSo disappointing! My wife and I are huge Aubert fans (buy everything offered each spring and fall release). Loved this wine when we first got it. Tonight, color is off, smell muted pear, heavier on the alcohol, flat, uninteresting, no depth at all. Decanted for 40 minutes and will give it a bit more time before pouring it down the drain. Stored in perfect conditions so I know it’s not me. Seriously hoping this is an anomaly and not indicative of the rest of our ‘17’s. One of the things that attracted us to Aubert was its ability to age. Seriously hoping this is an anomaly!!! 3 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

4/22/2022 - jst914 Likes this wine: NRThis wine really reminds me of a first growth Bordeaux. Beginning to wonder if it won’t be hitting its stride for another 10 years? Opened a bottle and decanted for over 4 hours before enjoying at Ocean Prime in Naples alongside a 2007 Staglin (Staglin was sensational!). Showed flashes of brilliance at the beginning of the night but was completely closed by the end of dinner. I know this is going to be a rock star but timing is going to be critical. I will probably not open another bottle for at least 5 years. If you only have one or two bottles, put them at the back of your cellar and forget about them for awhile! 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

3/11/2022 - jst914 Likes this wine: 96 pointsWow, more often than not, Todd Anderson (and now Robert Hunt) reminds me why I collect wine. Enjoyed this at Chops in Naples, FL celebrating our older daughter’s boyfriend’s 28th birthday. This wine is in its prime (my wife thinks it deserves a 98)! Extraordinary nose, incredible mouth feel, dark cherries, vanilla, a bit of tar/tobacco. There is still so much |

7/10/2021 - jst914 Likes this wine: 90 pointsFor a wine with such an extraordinary pedigree, it continues to disappoint. Decanted for an hour before drinking, now on hour 3. Don’t know if at this stage it’s a PnP, but have been underwhelmed every time we drink this wine. Great nose and weak palate. Nobody more disappointed than I, but will not save my remaining bottles for anything special. |

6/18/2021 - jst914 Likes this wine: 95 pointsEnjoyed with good friends at Barbatella in Naples alongside a 2006 Dominus. Three hour decant and wines continued to improve all night. Both wines were spectacular and group was split regarding favorite. I enjoyed the Dominus slightly better but was a razor-thin difference. Bordeaux like nose, dark cherry, vanilla, leather, and hint of tobacco. Like the Dominus, it had a beautiful mouth feel and is in an idealic drinking window. Couldn’t believe how youthful the fruit was while exhibiting perfect harmony. Both wines have the backbone to age gracefully for many years to come but would absolutely recommend opening up either bottle today for an amazing experience. These are the types of wines that remind me why I collect! |

6/10/2021 - jst914 Likes this wine: 95 points95+ Decanted for 2 hours. Wow, this is an incredible Cali Pinot. The fruit is amazing, almost jammy as one taster noted, but without being over the top. Silky texture and incredible mouthfeel. IMO, this is in it’s prime but has the stuffing to last another 3-5 years. Going to be hard to wait it’s so good. Have started drinking our older Merry Edwards and keep discovering amazing wines. Has given us a whole new appreciation for this incredible wine maker! |

4/18/2021 - jst914 Likes this wine: 99 pointsIt's been 3 years since we last tried this wine and it has only gotten better with age, flirting with perfection (probably warrants a perfect score)! Was wine of the night and was declared epic by one of the participants. Two people guessed it was a mature Bordeaux based on the nose which was stunning, and reinforced my belief that this wine is an absolutely perfect integration of old and new world wine styles. Lots of dark cherry with a youthfulness that belies its 19 year old age. This wine is in the perfect drinking window and extremely hard to imagine that it can possibly get any better. It was our last bottle and we were able to share it with dear friends making it a truly magnificent experience. If you are one of the fortunate few to own this wine, I highly recommend pulling out a bottle and enjoying it at your next special occasion. |

5/16/2020 - jst914 wrote: NRProbably being unfair, could be a solid 95. Now reaching it’s 3rd hour of decanting and hitting on all cylinders. Deep dark color just starting to take on the subdued hue of a mature Cabernet. Beautiful nose of black cherry with a hint of French vanilla. Was a heavyweight at one time but now presenting as a medium to light mouthfeel with wonderful finish of black cherry. Impossible to imagine this getting any better. Drink now, what a treat! Would definitely give the ‘04 Anderson’s Conn Valley Estate Reserve Cabernet a run for its money. Can’t wait to try them side-by-side! |

5/15/2020 - jst914 wrote: 90 pointsWas a bit disappointed in this wine. Gave it a proper decant and the wine certainly didn’t get better as the night progressed. This bottle was definitely past it’s prime with little fruit and greatly constrained nose. I will be drinking my last one from the 6 pack within the next couple of months. Hope this bottle was an anomaly, certainly not too old for a wine of this pedigree (had an ‘04 Anderson’s Conn Valley Estate Reserve Cab 2 months prior and it was sensational!). |

8/15/2018 - jst914 Likes this wine: 95 pointsA real beauty that we enjoyed with filets, grilled asparagus, and fresh NJ corn. The wine took a good 2 hours + to open up and reveal how incredible it is. Black currant, dark fruits, cigar box and a velvety mouthfeel. It’s drinking beautifully right now but it’s still a big wine and has all the makings to last another 5-10 years. Have another 3 bottles; 1 of which we will enjoy at a vertical tasting of ACV’s that we’re hosting in September, and the other two will remain in my cellar for another few years before I try it again. |

5/18/2018 - jst914 wrote: 93 pointsIncredible wine at 23 years old! Real testament to one of the premier California producers who put the region on the map. Dark fruits, beautiful mouthfeel, incredible experience. Enjoyed with our daughter in honor of her 23rd birthday. If you have them, drink them soon as they are not going to get any better than this, more likely to fade. |

2/14/2018 - jst914 Likes this wine: 95 pointsTodd Anderson and Team continue to impress. 4 hour decant and the wine is drinking beautifully. Perfect combination of old world and new. Going into its 16th year, the wine is beginning to take on the color of a mature Bordeaux, a nose of both California Cab and the terroir scents of a classic Paulliac. Started off with black cherries but has transitioned towards black currents/dark fruit. Has the legs to last another 3-5 years in the cellar but I wouldn’t wait. If you are fortunate enough to own some, drink it! Perfect Valentine’s Day splurge. |

11/7/2017 - jst914 Likes this wine: NRDecanted for 3 1/2 hours. Bing cherries, pencil lead, touch of leather. Well integrated tannins, beautiful mouth feel. Still tastes young to me and has all the right elements to age for another decade. Another under appreciated and great value California Cabernet producer. Grab all the ‘14’s you can. |

11/4/2017 - jst914 Likes this wine: NRAnother incredible wine from Robert Hunt at Anderson’s Conn Valley! I know Robert and Todd use this to blend, but Wow! Silky smooth (typical ACV) with tastes of black currants, a touch of plumb and vanilla. Drinking beautifully but easily capable of cellaring another 10-15 years. Been decanted for 5+ hours. So excited we have another 8 bottles! 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

10/22/2017 - jst914 Likes this wine: 95 pointsWow! Best of the ‘07’s my wife and I have had to date (blows Mondavi PR & Beringer PR out of the water that we had two nights ago because they were so tight). Decanted for 4 1/2 hours. Dark as ink, silky mouthfeel, wonderful finish. A hint of menthol and eucalyptus, flavors of currants and other dark fruits. Hard to imagine this is going to get better but definitely has the stuffing to last another decade. |

4/30/2017 - jst914 Likes this wine: 96 pointsDecanted for almost 5 hours (could have used more) and enjoyed over dinner (along with 08’ Insignia with very similar blend profile). Still incredibly youthful, coat-the-teeth California Cab, that is as deep, multilayered and complex as any “1st Growth” California Cab I’ve ever had. There was so much going on with that wine that it just got better and better as I kept recognizing/appreciating different aspects of the wine. Definitely will benefit from another 3-5 years in the cellar and easily last in the cellar for 25+ years. |
