Likes this wine: 92 pointshaving recently had the 2010, i find this 2012 a little more open and direct. bouquet is bold and juicy, more dark fruited, with spice, tobacco and vanilla. palate is very supple, dark berry fruit, nice herbal and green flavours mid palate add depth. finishes with a slight bitter almond note. very approachable, very easy to sip. good with cheese and hearty protein. |

Likes this wine: 93 points...a few troubling posts on this recently, so i opened one of mine to see what all the fuss is about! there must be some bottle variation b/c this bottle is lovely. bouquet a little restrained at first... some smoke, leather, mushroom, sanguine and floral aromas. palate is v nice, delicate in texture, polished tannins, sweet and savoury with cherry and soy. finishes long with a saline note. fully open for business. |

Likes this wine: 92 pointscolour is a deep transparent ruby. nose is very pretty, slightly floral, almost sweet. palate is bright and lifted with good acidity but this isn’t prickly in the least. the entry and mid palate are silky. this is nicely balanced and really tasty with cherry, a hint of cassis and lightly herbal (which holds on the very long pleasant finish). i think the 5% cab really brings an unusual dimension to this blend. |

Likes this wine: 90 pointshad no to low expectations… v pleasantly surprised with this. dark and nearly opaque. nose is rich and savoury with earth, leather, and pepper. with air, blackberry fruitiness grows on the bouquet as well. palate is consistent with the nose, med+ in weight, velvety and plush, finishes soft and slightly peppery. perhaps not terribly complex but a v nice sipper. i think the little bit of age has done this well. |

Likes this wine: 93 pointsalongside a 2009 chateau monbousquet, the nose on this was little more restrained, subtle. eventually, raspberry and blackcurrant emerge, mint, spice, bubblegum. the palate is where this shines though, bright berry fruit, pure and linear, with that mint and spice in support and in perfect balance. very nice showing and i would think this will hold here for a year or two yet. |

Likes this wine: 91 pointsthis is definitely on the back nine. but the nose on this is lovely. …mature blackcurrant and blackberry, dusty, leather, dark chocolate, olive tapenade. palate is nice too… mature, savoury, minty, spicy, earthy. not much fruit to speak of here but with air, it’s still showing some acidity, and with air also some sweetness mid palate. there’s some tannic grip on the back end as well. a slight bitterness on the close. this has been well stored, prolonging life. |

Likes this wine: 92 pointswell, it’s young. straightaway, it smells and tastes like i’d have been better off waiting 5 more years… but alas, i’m on holidays and we take what we can find at the local shop. the silver lining is, after a 4hr decant, it shows promise. nose of black currant, mint, tobacco, white pepper and mild but pleasant florals. on the palate, even with 4hrs of air, the tannins are ever-present and in need of further integration. overall, good structure, vibrant acidity, tart black berry, more mint, long finish. all kinds of upside here. hold. revisit in 2-3 yrs. |

Likes this wine: 94 pointswine night @ uncle victor’s! …in a cab fwd line up blind, alongside the ‘03 calon segur and ‘03 dunn howell mtn, regretfully i didn’t guess this (and in hindsight, a foolish miss). wonderfully funky yet sweet and the most perfumed of the three. aromas of plum, cherry, moss, smoke, leather and mushroom. mature savoury notes up front, black currant jam and blackberry fruit still hanging on. on the back nine but wow, this still alive and well. delicious and showy. |

Likes this wine: 93 pointswine night @ uncle victor’s! …in a cab fwd line up alongside dunn’s ‘03 howell mountain and the ‘03 solaia, this was the most subtle, particularly on the nose. lots of air and time in glass coaxes out some dark berry and currant fruit. quite dusty, earthy, definitely fully mature. there’s fruit to be found but the palate is more savoury, very refined. gripping tannins initially that recede with time. this wine will grow on you, i promise. |
