Full-bodied, rich wine with soft, full tannins and primary fruit flavors of cherry, dark berry and blueberry and secondary flavor of chocolate. Hints of toast and creamy oak.

Weekly tasting group #066; A fully blind test. (@ My place): Purple red and a bit reticent bouquet. On the palate concentrated dark fruit juice, sweetness, round tannin and a lot of ok acidity and bitterness. Touch of vanilla. Straight forward and ok wine without much complexity. Ready now and the next few years.

Five days after opening (closed when not being poured), the barnyard aspects are mostly gone and the fruit is coming through a lot more. It's quite good and is certainly showing it's aging potential.
Incredibly poopy on the nose and a hint of fennel. Tons of barnyard and earthy flavors on the palate as well with some fruit showing on the finish. Smooth mouthfeel until the acidity and tannins show up on the finish. Smoother and less awkward the second day.

Off taste on first pour. Mellowed a bit after a few hours. Someone mentioned that it was better after 4 days, this may be how much time it needs to really enjoy.

Every day type of wine. Dark and inky. Taste of dark berries after some air. Initially rough and somewhat insipid but much better the second day. Tannins and acidity tamed down the second day and made for a fine wine.

Dark purple with blackberry, chocolate and baking spice aromas. The palate is lively with upfront acids, dark berry and plum flavors and a prominent cassis tone to this wine. The finish is good with soft but noticeable tannins, cola, prune and bramble flavors as well as a bit tart from the acidity, but enjoyable.

Not a bad petite syrah. Thought it was quite acidic and lacked fruit. The pros are the petite taste and balance after an hour of breathing. Wife liked the texture and fruit-think she'd score it an 89.

Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Very dark garnet color. Light nose of blackberries, smoke, wood, white pepper. Pleasant if simple on the palate, with firm acid balance and smooth flavors. Finishes quickly with light dusty tannins. A totally pleasant wine for everyday drinking that has a good QPR. Absolutely recommendable.

Needs time... Day 1: you could smell the rich, ripe blue fruit was there, though high, bitter acid detracted from the enjoyment in the mouth... I watched this bottle for days, knowing that Petite Sirah could stand some air, and finally after 4 days, the acid mellowed, and it was simply a pleasure to drink... Juicy, dark berries, blueberries and spice... not the longest finish, though what more do you want for under $10... yet given it took 4+ before it was enjoyable, I really can't recommend it... unless time is of no significance...

Decent QPR. PNP...wanted something that we could pour down the drain if we didn't finish as we're leaving town for a week in the morning. Fruity nose - cherry with a hint of veggies. A bit over extracted on the palate, lots of cherry fruit. Falls off quickly, but shows balance. Not sure I'd buy another, but not pissed off I bought this one.

Ruby with medium viscosity in the glass. Pepper, wet earth and black cherry Jello on the nose. Same on the palate and full bodied. Balanced and varietally correct. Good acidic structure and smooth tannin. Medium finish.

Dark color, hint of purple. Decanted for 1 hour, but still a bit closed and one dimensional on the nose. Aromas of plums, cherries and some vegetal notes. Taste starts out nice, good mouth feel, weak on the mid-palate but ends nice and dry with cherries and plums. Overall good QPR but on the edge of being to artificial sweet.

A rush of berries, but not much complexity. Drinkable, but I probably should have let it breathe longer.
Will try it tomorrow with a decanter.
***Update***
Tried with a decanter two days later. No real change in my review.

Very cherry Petite Sirah, a tad one-dimensional. Has good acidity, and a touch of coffee in the aftertaste adds richness.
