Good bottle. Beautiful gold in the glass, honey apricots and lanolin, medium weight, oily and viscous. Lacks some verve but intriguing enough to keep it interesting. Medium finish. Awesome match with cassoulet.

Deeper golden yellow; oxidative nose, lots of honey, apple juice, not the most complex wine, others thought this was dead but the palate showed it still had a good verve of acid, still lots of the fruit I don’t prefer but the honeyed notes with rich apple and fresher finish make it drinkable.

Wine Wednesday (Kevin and Vicki's house): How is it that this wine was in substantially better shape than 3 2001's I went through a couple years ago? Among the few Hermitage blancs I've ever had, this was probably the most enjoyable. It did start out in a weird place, with rubber band and a queer palate. It settled down into a rich, round, caramel, orange rind and slightly oxidized wine.

Medium-light gold color. Sweet nose of abundant new oak (Parker says it was 100% on the 1996; tastes like a similar proportion for the 1998). Ample, round palate packed with floral flavors. This has an almost Sauternes-like honeyed sweetness. Modest acidic bite, with a lingering oaky note on the finish. This is interesting, but a bit overdone in terms of the wood and the sweetness for my tastes. For the $50 I spent on this bottle, give me a 1er Cru Puligny Montrachet or Meursault any day.

This wine was singing, fantastic flavours of peach, quince, wrapped in a floral bouquet. Great length. Oak is not overdone. Bone dry. Drink or hold until 2025. 14% abv

Brownish yellow color. Apple cider and quite a bit of heat almost paint type smell nose. Very light nose. Brown pear flavor and nose. 30 sec finish. Lacking a bit of sweetness. More sharp/sour than sweet. little bit of minerals and chalkiness. A celery type taste on the end.

Brown Bag Wine Dinner at Two Chefs-III(Double Blind); 2/21/2012-2/22/2012: - Yellow gold color with medium forming legs and aromas of melon and geranium. It's balanced and has flavours of melon and oak with a full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Pablo's wine. Had an odd sweetness that made me think of Huet(Loire)! The first of three excellent Whites.

Amazing - Mrs H's wine of the year so far! Beautiful light gold colour. Nose and palate of intense lime and minerals - very complex and long. Rich palate with good acidity. This will continue to drink well for years.

Amazing nose, I could smell it endlessly - very complex aroma of honey, dry fruits (apple, pear, apricots), spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), toast and butter. Very powerful in mouth, needs a while after opening, finish seemed to be a little harsh, but after half hour it became smooth, long and mouthfilling. Great, complex, powerful wine.

This one was quite good. The earthy nose has be worried that it had gone bad, but the palate was buttery but without the over oaked taste one sees with many California whites. Nice finish and excellent mouthfeel. Its drinking fantastic now, but seems to have the legs to go further.

Wine-Pages Nottingham Offline (Pretty Orchid Restaurant, Nottingham): Caramelly, lightly oxidative nose that's gently raisined and has hints of oiliness and of nuttiness. Powerful, impressive wine with good concentration, but also a nice finesse. The most striking thing, however, and for me the most surprising thing is just how totally unsuited this was to the Chinese/Thai style food throughout.

1998 revisited ten years on (Nottingham): A very rich, nutty, oxidised nose with some orange peel. Concentrated palate. Rich, oxidative and nutty. Clearly white northern Rhône. It has a very firm backbone and a very concentrated finish - quite intense. Very powerful stuff.

Usual Suspects: Straw tinted yellow. Waxy, fresh hay, cocoanut, pear, honey, mineral notes combine for a complex and vibrant nose. Very structred mouthfeel, mineral, bitter notes. Firm, chewy, pebbles in the finish. This wine is more Marsanne dominated in the flavor provile and extremely interesting and would appear to be a great food wine. Showing very well but perhaps even better in five years.

1990 and older Châteauneuf-du-Pape offline at Kaspar's (Seattle, WA): Deep gold color. The nose is funky with somewhat oxidized notes. The palate is nutty and extremely dry, rich and yet wacky, at a somewhat awkward point in its evolution yet clearly with so much potential.

I had a bit of a scare when I opened the bottle because the cork had a definite musty smell but as will be seen from the notes there's no way this wine was corked and I'm very sensitive to TCA. The color was a lovely, deep but brilliant and youthful looking gold similar to the color of a young Sauternes. The wine needed a little time to warm up from cellar temp and open but once it did the nose gave a hypnotic blend of honey and beeswax and lanolin. Honey and spice were also to be found on the plate with a sort of waxy, oily texture. A clean, pure, persistent finish capped off the experience. No imbalance, false notes or faults to be found, just a lovely example of the breed.

Tried this white in Paris in May, 2003 at Arbitrage, as it was recommended by Sommelier. First and only white wine I have ever had that was decanted. My memory is a little vague now but do remember it being one of the best whites ever drunk. We had quite a few others that night and this was a standout. Got home from trip and ordered 3 bottles. Opened one and did not experience the same results - shut down?, atmosphere? Dont know but will wait 5 - 10 years per RP's suggestion.

Deep, rich honey with a gold sheen. Really aggressive acids that have kept it alive this long. Pretty oxidized with typical notes like coconut husk

The Return of the Wednesday Wine Lunch (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Dark gold color. Golden fruits, baked apple, spice pear cobbler, brown sugar, honeyed, a little flabby at this point, on the downward side, but still provides plenty of aged character.
