This is one spicy-ass Pinot Blanc. Tasted blind over a four day period (vv'd and chilled in between) I was thinking a Gewurtztraminer-ish Riesling, certainly German: I was off by a least a varietal. Nice stuff; would love to find more. A little tart for my wife, but then she's a Muscatel fan, and a fussy one at that.

Online Blind Tasting: 2009 from all over the world: Wine was filled into ~ 125 ml bottle in the morning and tasted in the evening and the evening the day after. Glass: Zalto Universal Clear, medium golden color. Clean, medium+ intense developing nose. Some delicate petrol, lots of herbs (herb-rich meadow), fine rock flour. Dense and beautiful. Dry with some residual sugar. High acidity that structures the wine beautifully. On the palate very mineral, lots of rock flour, fresh herbs, yellow stone fruit and delicated petrol. Very dense and tight, very good pressure and tension. Very good balance. Juicy. Long finish with lots of fine yellow fruit and crushed stones. Needed time and air. 91 on day 1, 93+ for sure on day 2. Potential of at least 3+ years.

A joy to drink. One of the highlights of the first month of COVID-19 confinement (of which there have been quite a few).
This wine is in a terrific place. Citrusy, grapefruity notes on the palate, great density without being at all heavy. Not quite the palate feel of a comparable Wachau Riesling, but nearly so. Great acidic mineral structure makes this wine a joy to drink. Extremely complex. If only I had made some contemporaneous notes.

A tale of two cities wine. Fresh, linear mineral and acid dominant early...almost crunchy. After revisiting (hour and a half later), wine's stonefruit flavors (predominantly apricot) were definitely center stage while background structure retained enough lift to keep wine in balance. Stunning. (out of magnum)

vibrant golden color. Nose petrol with hint of funk, some waxy notes with time. Palate bone dry, rich body with apricot/peach flavor, tart acidity, finish with some citrus pith. Nice layers of flavor, great depth. Drinking very well now, good with light seafood appetizers. 93 pts

What a wine! Peach and apricot dominate the very ripe, yet pure aromas. The intense fruit is carried tremendously well by the perfectly integrated acidity. The little residual sugar supports the stone fruit flavours. Extremely nice to drink now.

Mostly 1994 Cal Cabs (Treva, West Hatrford): Bright, lively, crisp, chalky and full of bouncy citrus fruit. Really wakes up the palate. So much clarity and purity here... fabulous stuff.

Mature nose of dried tropical fruit, good grip and mouthfeel with a great depth, ending chalky and long, if you like this ripe rich style drink now and over the next 3 years, better keep this one chilled while enjoying, ***(+)

Leo's Blind Tasting Group - June '16 edition (Back Forty West, NYC): I liked this a lot more a few years ago soon after release - this was a good showing but also had some of the shortcomings that have made me stop buying GGs lately. There's lots of ripe fruit here - it's more tropical and flamboyant on the nose than the other two GGs in the flight - and lots of bright floral and mineral elements that emerge with air, but it also seems a bit oversized on the palate and shows a tinge of alcohol on the finish as it warms up a little.

Tasted Blind. Bottle shape and nose suggesting riesling, but in a very (over) ripe fashion. Off-dry. Doesn't seems to be Australian or Austrian. A bit of age to it, probably 4/5 years. Remind me of some Zind Humbrecht and Ostertag very ripe vintage. Ripe, intense and round palate with okish acidity. If from Germany from a very hot year. Not as stealy/racy as mosel riesling....Pfalz! Good wine, drink up. +++

This still comes across a touch riper, broader and more powerful than the '08, but the balance and depth here are excellent and it's absolutely compelling to drink (or just smell) after an hour or so in the decanter with layers of vivid chalky and stony minerality, salinity, riper floral notes and classic Pfalz grapefruit and pear all coming together. It keeps getting better and more aromatically complex with air, and I'll try and keep my hands off my last bottle for a few more years.

At Marco's. Not quite the jawdropper that the '08 was on release, but pretty impressive all the same. A wonderful scent of crushed stones, chalky and saline elements and pure citrus and stone fruit flavours, and while it's quite rich and intense in the mouth there's good acidity keeping it nicely balanced, though not providing the sheer cut and precision the '08 had. There's great depth here with more mineral and floral nuances developing with air, and impressive length.

Very floral nose, dry on the palate with a nice round and acidic finish. Will benefit from some more time resting -- glad I have several more bottles to enjoy.

Pretty darn hard as nails on the first day, but it settled down pretty well by the second day. This wine was all power and dry minerals, and a little heavy. When it settled it was fullish, and strong with a decent white fruit attack. Honestly I had to work through it a little.

From magnum
Pale yellow, very healthy appearance
Nose is complex - some «pfalz grapefruit», and (white) peach. No hints of petroleum which one might expect on a 12 year old riesling?
Very good concentration, length and exceptional balance. Less oppulence/ ripeness than most 2009-sesongen tasted recently
Overtall a very fine sample of a dry pfalz riesling - probably close to peak now!

These were overrated from the get go, and this my last bottle didn’t age well to boot. Meh.

Tet dinner. Dry but not austere. Lovely Riesling nose. Terrific intensity. Minerals and citrus with yellow pit fruits lurking beneath.
