Filling in w/the Friday Brown Bag Group (Ron's): Double blind. Aromas of chocolate, dark fruit and pepper with a nice underlying earthy funk. Plum and riper dark fruit on the palate with a lengthy finish. Medium tannins. Nice fruit. Develops a subtle meaty note.

Not sure what past reviews are seeing in this wine. The bottle I'm drinking is clearly not flawed but also not layered with flavors. Had with smoked lamb neck. Bouquet over shadowed the short lived sweet syrah palate. Not in the same league of top WA syrahs IMOHO. Getting zero funk!

Love the massive funkiness on this Syrah. So tasty! Big blackberry fruit under the funk, with some black pepper as well. Needed a bit of air/aeration to wake up, the was singing for the rest of the night.

Purple in color but maybe just starting to fade to a dark crimson. The ABV checks in at a restrained 13.8%. 100% Syrah from the aptly named Funk Vineyard. Great nose of of minerals, stones, grilled meats and Kalamata olives. Medium body and great acidity. Cherries, olive brine, rose petals and tar on the palate. Exceptionally long finish and silky tannins. Super wine that would give the likes of Cayuse and Reynvaan a run for their money. Drink over the next 3-5 years.

Brought to Thanksgiving Dinner. Bring on the FUNK! Love this wine for it's seriously funky nose. Good "Rocks" fruit, with tons of smoked meat, blackberries and pepper. Took it a bit to open up, however, so may be going through a dumb phase. Once it did, we were off to the races. Great stuff!

Had one of these at dinner the other night in Montana. A monumental WA wine for me and one of the best WA state wines I've ever had. Great when opened and just kept getting better and better as the night went on.

Tasting room visit- 9/9. Dank earth, bacon, dried herb, mineral, and red fruit notes on the nose and through to the palate. Nice feel but tight as a clinched fist. Round firm tannins and ripe red fruit on the finish. It would be interesting to see how this develops.

Tight and tannic. Needs a lot more time decanting than I gave it and probably a couple more years in the bottle.

Awesome Syrah. Probably the best I've ever had. Smoky, with fruit and nice tannins. Went great with smoked ribs.

This wine had really nice cherry flavors with some nice spice and creamy oak flavors. Full bodied and a medium-long finish. This was a fun bottle.
