The last bottle of this wine that I opened was past it, quite dull. This bottle however we perfectly palate. An easy drinking wine. I have one bottle left...

cheeky cheap and cheerful fruit driven Bordeaux. I'm guessing mostly Merlot from this tasting; quite plummy. Lightweight texturally but juicy and fleshy. Very much a lunchtime claret...

My experiment has apparently failed, the wine has not aged well. The nose is good but the palate is horrid. Displeasing on the front and sour on the back. Three sips over two nights and it went down the drain.

This was an experiment to see how $13 Bordeaux aged. Bought on release and stored in my cellar. Popped and poured. Very dark garnet. Heavy legs. Nose: cherry and that is all I get. Palate: muted fruit, more muted than I remember on release. A little bitter on the finish but good with food.
For $13 I would say it is a good daily drinker and could last a little longer. I have one more bottle and I am not sure if I will hold it longer or drink it in the next month or so. It is definetely better within a year or three but not bad overall for the price.

I remember enjoying this a few weeks ago, but can't find my notes. I remember it being fun, juicy, not super complicated, but quite tasty and a good crowd-pleaser to drink while playing games with some friends.

Agree with stevenjstein. The wine is quite green in its approach. Seem heavy on cabernet franc. Dark Berries, Vegetal Notes and Grilled Herbs are the dominant notes here. Very tannic at this stage. Not bad, but I would not load up on it if you are looking for cheap 2009 "sleeper" bordeaux.

On first night, heavy vegetal character that faded only a bit after a couple of hours. Harsh tannins. Definitely better the second night, as the tannins and vegetal character had mellowed, but still nothing special. Has enough fruit that it could get a bit better with age.

This is a 75% Merlot and 25% Cab blend and is not bad in terms of QPR, but not outstanding as a wine on its own. It is similar, in my vote, to other Bordeaux blends in this price range ($11/bottle) and probably won't age well or dominate in a competition. That said it was a fun wine with the meal. The nose reminds of bread dough. The taste has modest tannins, some vanilla oak and a pleasant aftertaste. This didn't develop at all in the glass, it did get flatter with time and was not a complex or evolved blend. Still, compared to others in this price range, the wine was a good buy.

The nose starts off warmly with cinnamon and camp fire smells. Medium bodied. Good dark cherry, a little cocoa powder dusting, more clove and cinnamon. I preferred this wine slightly chilled, as it took away some of the alcohol burn.

Could be inconsistencies but this one was way better than the last one. Good value for the money based on this bottle.

Enjoyed this quite a bit more than prior bottles. Maybe it was just the mood.

Strong tannins, almost undrinkable when first opened, but the next day was quite pleasant.

Cherry with smoke. First day was light tannin but second night they are really kickin'. Hard to beat the value on this wine.

dark fruit backed up by minerals, alcohol, zesty, finesse, dry, chalky, and a bit hot on the finish. Should improve with a couple of years?

Monthly Miscellaneous Bordeaux Tasting (K&L Wines, San Francisco): Medium ruby. Cherry and smoke. Light weight, some roundness imparted by wood, decent acid, fairly easy although some tannin at the end. Good lighter style generic Bordeaux.
