Very dark red/purple color. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 2 hours at The Ranch. I had this wine a couple times almost 8 years ago. I found it impressive then, and just as impressive now with more evolution and integration, though it still has plenty of life left. Lovely black and red mountain fruits on the nose with earth and graphite overtones. The palate has plenty of cassis, tart and tangy, with a little bite still; fairly full bodied, but not at all heavy, tar and dusty minerality with round tannins that hold a little grip still. Classically well made cab.

The third time was the charm for this wine. I last drank this in 2016. At that time I wrote it was still a bit tannic and gave it a 90. The tannins are now fully integrated in this wine and it is drinking beautifully. This is a classic style of wine that is very harmonious. I drank this as a PNP and it was great on the first sip. Ruby in color with a nose of cassis, raspberry, blueberry and cedar. On first taste it had all of that and a strong cigar box flavor on the finish. As I continued to drink this over several hours the cigar box tamed down and it added layers of licorice and charcoal. A very complex and nuanced wine. I typically drink big modern Napa cabs but this was a delightful change of pace. Chimney Rock had been the only Stags Leap wine I had drank that I didn't love. After this experience, I will give it another look. This wine has peaked. Drink em now if ya got em!

This wine was a real treat if you love strong tannins and soft fruit. The nose is earthy and leads you to the fruit. The taste is very dry with almost prune type plums and is dry with soft and alluring tannins that leave you with a beautiful dry and extensive finish. If you like those earthy dry red wines it is it and it is delicious with a good red steak.

Really nice example of Stags Leap juice here. Drank this out the bottle at a BYOB place near to us and it was perfect, ready to go. After 15 minutes of being open this had notes of red cherries, a touch of green peppers, and lots of tertiary characteristics - cedar, leather, raisins. The palate is medium bodied, the tannins are perfectly integrated now and a nice backbone of a refreshing cherry profile that really lifts this wine up. Decent finish and very easy drinking. In a perfect drinking spot now.
This really shows the finesse and elegance Stags Leap wines are known for. Would absolutely buy again.

Did a double decant over the weekend. First night typical California cab heavy Fruit forward notes with bold big tannins and still present. No subtle nuances. Drank well with Chinese food. Tonight, much better and for the tenants smoother profile with plums, casis, mild tobacco and hints of licorice. Nice depth and mouth lingering feel. Probably has another couple of years. Enjoyable

Absolutely wonderful. Opened 1.5hours prior and it was near perfect. Nose was subtle but in the mouth, wow. Still bright fruit, nice acidity, tannins are all smoothed out. Wonderful finish. Wish I had more!

My WOTN, not because it blew the competition away, but for showing at its peak. Limited bricking at the edge. Warm nose of bing cherries and cigar wrapper. The beautiful thing about this bottle was how the tannins have dropped out - leaving only some silky cherry pie - great texture. I agree with subtle dusty notes others have mentioned. Fruit and acidity are maintained, but I don't expect this to mature any further. Drink up, this is a merlot drinker's cab.

This needed a 3-4 hour decant before revealing its true SLD character. The nose is deep and driven by black and blue fruit, sweet oak, conifer, and a whiff of carob. Full bodied and dense, the mouth is filled with loads of blackberry fruit that is bolstered by a wonderful herb complexity, juicy acidity, fine-grained tannin, and beautiful purity. Finishes long, expansive, and flavorsome. A wine of place.

Fantastic bottle! Great nose, plenty of fruit on the mid-palate. Tannins are pretty well integrated - I think I'm started mg to understand dusty and I'm getting dusty tannins here. Nice acidity and a pretty long finish.

Wow. Did not expect the quality here! Tannins have integrated and are almost completely buried under the fruit. Dark spectrum. Has some acidity but not much. Could drink this without food. Nice texture and full mouthfeel. Take a big sip and you will be rewarded.
This is so obviously chimney rock. Ripe fruit, almost sweet at times, black currant, deep red cherry, vanilla, and some toasty oak. A faint hint of pencil shavings and some gravel but they are dominated by the new world flavors even at 7 years of age. Probably best in the next five years as the tannins are pretty melted by now. Very good wine.

Decanted about an hour before tasting. Wonderful, sweet floral nose with a hint of cinnamon . First taste is excellent. Subtle, cherry flavors but not jammy. Clear, deep ruby. Clean, youthful, medium(+)-intensity nose, with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, black currant, cinnamon, toast, and eucalyptus. Dry on the palate, medium+ body, medium+ tannin, high alcohol, medium acid, medium+ intensity, and a flavor profile to match the nose plus cassis, vanilla, cedar, chocolate, and coffee. Long finish. Very good, will improve, premium price.

- It's in total harmony with a full body. Smooth texture with a long finish - Opened a 375 er. I let it sit for about 30 minutes before drinking. Poured a glass through an aerator. Really nice berry flavor, great nose on the wine, but the end was not smooth. I nursed the glass for an hour and it was better at the end than at the beginning. I stopped up the bottle and opened the next day. What a difference. Simply an amazing wine. It still had all the flavors but was silky smooth with a clean gentle ending. My recommendation is to let it breathe for at least an hour, maybe 2 before consuming. Wine cellar ratings are for the second day.

Quiet on the nose, this had a short, mean taste and I was unable to finish a glass and ended up throwing it out. It didn't taste corked but, given the consistent positive reviews it gets, I wonder if it was spoiled in another way that I didnt recognize?
Hennepin Lake Charity Tasting Event: Tasting pour. Oddly enough I had happened to have this a couple weeks ago. Very consistent, cassis, sweet vanilla, blackberry, black raspberry. Good stuff. 92+pts.

Let bottle sit for 30 minutes after opening and then decanted for an hour. I could smell the sweet, dark, spicy, and loamy Stags Leap fruit in the decanter from two feet away. Wonderful, rich, deep flavors of cassis, blackberries, cherry kirsch, loamy earth, black coffee, and creamy vanilla. Elegant, concentrated, and classy. Long, satisfying finish that lingers. Perfect accompaniment to a char-grilled ribeye.

BBQ Brisket with Big Reds (Siggy & Jenny's Place, Mpls, MN): This was a little tight early on, but opened nicely to reveal lush black fruits, crème de cassis, blackberry, dark cherry, oak, spice, mint, and later it becomes more earthy. The palate is full bodied, showing nice concentration, good purity and focus, firm round tannins, oak, and a long finish. Young, but showing well, this will continue to get better. 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. 92(+)pts.

I know it's a blend but it showed like a very elagent cab. Dark opaque purple color. Nose is black currant and cassis. Palate is consistent with very elegant and sexy tannins. A real treat but it's too bad the fruit isn't better developed. Tart dark currant finish. 5+12+17+7=91

Really nice fully bodied Cab. Deep burgundy color, forgot to notice the notes bc i was chatting with friends about things but the finish was very smooth. We all really like it.

Quiet on the nose, this had a short, mean taste and I was unable to finish a glass and ended up throwing it out. It didn't taste corked but, given the consistent positive reviews it gets, I wonder if it was spoiled in another way that I didnt recognize?

Hennepin Lake's Annual Tasting (Tons of Napa Cabs); 10/30/2013-11/2/2013: Always good and love this producer. Cherry, wood, sweet tannins and chocolate. Medium plus finish and age worthy.

92(+)pts.

AHA Hearts Delight - USA Wine Tasting: I drank this with the wine maker. Compared to the 2007 this is a little "French like". Less strawberry fruitiness and good body.

Well balanced berry fruit, spice and oak. Firm backbone but not overbearing. After goes on and on.

Really enjoyed it. It's not too thick and jammy. Very drinkable now.
