Quite red scented fruit, juicy and vibrant, slightly glossy, good acidity, long red finish, quite complex - overall quite light and elegant, depth without power. Feels like a thin bottle compared to previous. After a couple of hours it’s more open and obvious, maybe less thin; very pretty red fruit. Probably at its peak (given 2h to breathe) - mix of primary and secondary fruit.

2 hour decant and this still hasn’t fully opened up but it is certainly accessible and enjoyable. Zero bright fruit with more heavy dark fruit on the palate. Average balance with a long life ahead.

4 hour decant- certainly in prime and very pleasant and enjoyable before dinner. This should be drank without food. Nice balance and light on its feet. Should be consumed within next 5 years.
Medium red color, PNP, drank 2 glasses over 2 hours. Pretty austere out of the gate. Dusty cherry, funk, chocolate, iron, a little vegetal. The palate shows dried cherry, dried spices, iron, strong minerality, deep berry, woodsy and some distinct tannins on the finish. Improves somewhat with air. 90+pts.

Monthly Tasting Group: Blind Pinots Worldwide (The Bungalow Club, Mpls): Medium red color, 1cm bricked margin. Decanted for 30 minutes, drank a glass blind over 45 minutes. Took one whiff of this and I was pretty sure this was my wine. This was so earthy and filled with iron and minerality, tobacco, red cherry, leather. The palate was medium plus bodied, ready to go with complementary tannins and a refined texture, cherry fruits, forest floor and mineral. Clearly Burgundy with some age. Turns out I was correct - this was best bottle of this wine I've had to date.

2008 or Older (Tilia): Slow o'd 3 hours. This wine was not that complex or mature in taste. Towards the end of the glass, it had improved with some enticing fruit and spice, but nothing along the lines of a mature burgundy. Wait 3 years and hope for better?

Monthly Tasting Group: Old Reds 2008 and Earlier (Tilia, Mpls): Medium dark red color. Drank a glass over an hour. Brooding nose that evolves to earthy and deep with damp earth, cedar, dark red fruits, black cherry, spice and mineral. This bottle was considerably more youthful than one just 11 days ago. This improved over the hour, but still seemed somewhat reclusive. These two bottles were considerably different, and I'm not entirely sure what to infer at this point. 90+pts.

Medium red plus color. Double decanted. Small glass over an hour next to the '99 Beaune Mousse. Fine dried herbs, dried leaves, strawberry preserves, slightly metallic, a little dank basement. The palate shows spice, wood, dried cherry, lots of mineral, a little thin, lighter medium body.

Burdundies @ Asher's (Westport, CT): Fleshy, corpulent and accessable with good ripeness of fruit. Smooth and velvety but also a bit monchromatic for me. Excellent "Pinot Noir", but perhaps not enough "Burgundy" for me. Still... a delicious wine.

Closed, tight black fruit with good depth, glossy texture, sweet finish. Very nice. No hurry, should last a long time

7/18/2020 - ProperClaret Does not like this wine:
Incredibly stemmy...moreso than perhaps any other Burg I’ve ever had. Three hours of air wouldn’t bring it around.

Good fruit, still stiff and tannic, needs more time but showing some complexity and promise

3 hour decant- great balance with subtle fruit up front; above average finish. In prime with many years left. No rush.

Still young but really accessible with bright velvety fruit and also noticable tannins. We liked it a lot.
