Lunch at Pages with LS, CM and JB. Great Roulot Perrières 2011 (more expressive in terms of nose than the CD) and incredible Salon 2002. The Grands Echezeaux 2014 from DRC was also very nice. The CD Perrières was elegant but not as expressive as expected. Should have been opened earlier to develop more before the lunch.

Love this so much. Find cooler vintages maybe strong for coche! Roasted nuts more balanced and even. Super good. Reduction. Full body. Great concentration. Drinking beautifully now.

Such an amazing experience, thanks Olivier! This is in full bloom, so open, so precise, and so persistent. Layers of aromas and flavors that kept building, telltale matchstick on the nose.

Just a spectacular bottle of wine. flint, matchstick and insane precision. The wine continued to get better and better with time... I'm not doing it justice. In the last couple of yrs this and 00 CC have been the two truly magicals bottles of coche with age I have had. 97/98 maybe higher-
Magical drinking day 03 cuvee cathelin, 14 roulot perrieres, 12 petits monts liger belair, and 11 reignots liger belair.

Really an extraordinary bottle of wine. An intricate nose of lees, nuts, lemons, citrus, spices and freshness. Loads of struck match on the nose. On the palate its stunning precision and clarity with bursting flavors. Texturally amazing. Hard to see what could possibly be a better Chardonnay. In a great spot right now.

An absolutely spectacular nose that is as striking and pungent as a struck match. Big sulfur and distinctive reduction but with and incredibly fresh and pure bouquet of flowers, green apple and pear, and a pronounced hazelnut and marzipan. This is further chiseled and precise than the the '04 Rougeots in the next glass, which is also terrific. On the palate the orchard fruit is weightier and denser. Amazing drinking tonight.

La Paulée Chevalier Fête (Saison - San Francisco CA): Apple, pear and quince throughout with both great harmony and complexity on nose and palate. Seems so charmingly elegant from start-through-middle, then this keeps going, going and going, longer and more extended than I ever would have thought from its start. So wonderful now.

Wonderful acidity, not as much as you would expect and fruit is also riper than one would expect. A touch of the Coche sulfur but not excessive and a good lick of stoniness. Remarkably balanced with a fine long finish. A very pretty MP

By a considerable margin, the wine of the night at a tasting of 9 Meursaults ranging from 1999 through 2005, though my 2nd best. All the wines were prepoured, allowing me to retaste 3 consecutive times. Very good but not the best nose. In the mouth, very refreshing acidity, tasty, lemon fruit, mouth filling, and lushly textured. Also, by far one of the most expensive wines.

To no one's surprise, this wine with the ultimate pedigree was the overwhelming favorite in the Meursault tasting at Wine Watch. The color was excellent, neither pale nor very gold. Extraordinary aromas of brown butter and popcorn announce that this is COCHE-DURY. Viscous and concentrated, lots of peach, plum and dark grape, although arguably slightly less than riper vintages. Splendid despite losing some altitude after about 30 minutes despite refreshing the glass.

@Lurra- the wine still had some greenish tint to the yellow color, gunsmoke on the nose and stones with lemons, it had a slight nose of peach as it warmed in the glass. Energetic and very straight, good balance and long finish, delicious. Long live ahead still as well

all'inizio molto pirico, poi escono toni floreali su un bel tappeto minerale, ma in generale si ferma li . La bocca è molto rotonda, acida, piena, lunga. Una bocca davvero favolosa e un naso un po' sottotono.

Vin Vino Wine 2004 Meursault Tasting: First pour of the day for this one. Yellow (but no gold hints) color. Drop dead gorgeous nose of matchstick, brioche, flint, pear and white flowers. Oh my is this sexy, one of the best noses on any wine anywhere. Tart palate, still very young and un-evolved, displaying minerals and spice delivered in a rather intense package with fine but quite firm tannins and energy. Liquid rocks. Long finish with a really nice flavor recurrence and juicy intensity. Killer.

Coche-Dury Lunch with a La Tâche Kicker, Then More Après Lunch Wines (Elements Restaurant at the Sanctuary - Paradise Valley, AZ): Tasted single blind alongside the 2008 Corton-Charlemagne. Rich peach and apple are maturing nicely and grudgingly with lots of energy and finesse. Voluptuous middle is fully engaging. I incorrectly thought this was the CC.

A 40th Birthday Celebration, Dinner Edition (Atlas Bistro - Scottsdale AZ): Bottle had been opened 8 hours earlier, mostly consumed with the remainder refrigerated. Wow! Brioche and marzipan with floral flourishes. Finishes with a head-turning sense of explosive energy.
