PNP. Cork perfect. Color bricking. Nose has cherry rhubarb and iron. Swishing shows both acid and tannin structure still present, seeming a bit less integrated than my last note suggests. Tannin coats the cheeks. Sipping shows more balance and spicy mod length finish. This has time.

Unlike last time the structure seems integrated. There is still weight to the fruit and everything is now balanced better. Was delicious with our roasted chicken. Although drinking well now will hold here for awhile.

Tasty PN, very light in body and color, also light on the palate with mild tannins and fresh acidity. Great with food, has a nice earthiness to it, great value. Drink up! PS- Went back to my final glass of this wine, which was just poured from a bottle that has been opened for 6 days with the cork just pushed back in the bottle. Still showing well, lost a bit of it's fruit, but still fresh and mineral-laden. Surprising that this light held up so well for almost a full week after being opened. Bravo!

Tasty - light, distinctive pinot, light cherry fruit, some strawberry notes. Minerally with nicely balanced fruit. Shows good acidity and a long bright finish. Not much complexity, but a really well balanced, tasty food wine.

Red berry, slight green notes. Tart, herbal; approachable, tingly, slightly green tannin; medium acid. Fairly rich mouthfeel. Probably not imrpvong from here, but will hold okay for a while. Not bad at all for a $20 pinot.

Pale dull maroon; floral, limestone dust, cranberry, raspberry, tart strawberry, sour cherry, slight stem; leaner tart fruit on the palate, good brightness, substantial and old-school; easier drinking for 2009 but quite tasty.

Ripe peppery tart cherry and raspberry with good minerality and a bit of funk; sour cherry and peppery spice on the medium finish. Fairly ripe. Medium acidity, medium-low tannin, thought the tannins are drying. Not bad.

PnP, minerality was more dominant than I prefer, nice red fruit when it comes through but it is somewhat muted by minerality. Tannins still strong and more bottle time could be warranted.

Bright, ripe red fruit, spice; medium body; lush mouthfeel with fairly muted tannin and medium acid. Primarily fruit-driven, but with minerality and earthiness that keeps it interesting. Quite enjoyable.

Baking spice and old barn on the nose. Relatively ripe dark fruit with moderate stemmy tannins and good acidity in a medium bodied framework. Went great with our Cassoulet like dish.

PnP, drank rather quickly with friends arriving from Canada. Nice red-fruited nose, a hint of minerality in the upper register. The palate is fresh, med acidity, med- tannins, showing off raspberry and strawberry fruit, a great mineral backbone, a tinge of spice, nice complexity at this price point. This is a good quality wine, drinking perfectly now, not intended to improve with further bottle age. Should continue drinking well through 2015.

PNP. Color garnet w clear ruby edges. Nose dark cherry, spice, damp earth and hint of iodine. Swishing shows drying structure with considerable acid and tannin both. Sipping shows that the fruit has some weight but palate still leaning toward structure. Will wait a bit for next one

Decent - actually very good paired with some spicy Thai food. Normally wouldn't have been a huge fan, but with the spice it almost developed a sort of effervescent feel, and the flavors went quite well together.

Ruby, medium color depth. Some earthy aromas along with spice, red currant, and blackberry? A dry, medium bodied wine. Lively acidity with medium tannins. Flavorful. hints of spice, red currant, cranberries, with a long finish. A nice, well balanced, lighter spicy pinot. Good for lighter seafood dishes, cheeses, etc. A nice change of pace after drinking a lot of NW Pinots.

A well made wine showing the ample fruit of the vintage without excessive fat. I would have picked it as a restrained Carneros pinot rather than a Burg. Not much complexity but the fruit is lovely and firm.

P&P, 56degrees. Moderate red, clear. Nice nose of cherry and fruit with underlying woody rocky earthy notes. Less fruit on the palate (at least initially). Prominent tannins and some acidity, but clean and harmonious despite that with moderate long finish. Pleasing entry Bourgogne. Nice purchase for an everyday wine.

A very pretty, light ruby core fades to an almost colorless rim on this simple Bourgogne Pinot Noir. The nose offers up a slight barnyard funk, supported by tight almost-ripe cherries and strawberries, and even a bit of citrusy orange peel or something of the like. On the palate, the wine is still tightly strung, showing gorgeously tart red cherry fruit, with an earthiness that makes the wine have another level of complexity, which is nice at this price point. The wine is totally dry, and has med(+) acidity to balance out the tart fruit. The tannins are med(-) and feel a bit green and slightly drying, but do not in any way take away from the enjoyment factor of this food-friendly Pinot. The wine is at the same time rustic yet feminine, even whimsical, leading into a medium-length finish of tart cherry and mineral notes. It was very much enjoyed with dinner tonight. Drink over the next 3 or so years, IMHO.

This is a Garagiste purchase that I thought would be a nice wine to open, a bit chilled, on a 95 degree hot summer evening to start the Memorial Day weekend. It is a basic Bourgogne with no village distinction, and comes in at around $20 and change. PnP- The wine is pale ruby in color, weighing in at 12% abv (a number rarely seen these days, so I'm already excited), and of course is 100% Pinot Noir (supposedly, but it smells distinctly Gamay-like on first whiff). The nose is quite fragrant and primary, with red fruits like strawberries and raspberries, and a subtle kick of spice noted in the upper register of the nose. Smells delicious. On the palate, the wine is decidedly lively and light on it's feet, which is rare for a red wine, but makes it so much more enjoyable with the hot weather today. This must be due to the lower alcohol, therefore higher acid, giving a more tart red fruit flavor profile, with just enough Burgundian barnyard and forest floor notes to make it interesting but not complicated. The mid palate is slightly lean, but the finely grained tannins usher in a rocks-and-fruit finish that is medium in length, and a pleasant surprise. This wine out-punches it's competition at this price-point. Better than your average summer quaffer, I adore this wine for what it is. Should drink well for another 3 years, I'd estimate. Second glass is even better than the first. Hmmmm.

Olivier Guyot is based in Marsannay-la-Côte, and this Burgundy shows the Marsannay terroir very well. An excellent wine if you like dirty, earthy Pinots with medium+ tannins that taste of cardboard and smell of funk. Long finish. Ready now, but can also be aged. 88+
