Ganevat Dinner (San Francisco): Rich, intense nose with notes of lemon, riper orchard fruit, and chalk. Nice acidity with good weight on the palate and flavors of more lemon, citrus zest, apple, and minerals. There quite a bit of richness on both nose and palate but it's balanced by the acidity and citrus flavors. Long finish. Really lovely wine, my favorite of the Grands Teppes.

Golden / amber colour. Rich, complex and long. Hint of Oxidation but not flawed. Butterscotch / caramel (probably from elevage on lees —no new oak). Like a meursault with a hint of oxidation. Intense dry extract gives rich mid palate . Only objection is slightly hot and could use a bit more acidity. Drink up, feels fully mature and lacks structure for further aging.

13.5% Tasted blind. Medium golden. Impressive aromas, yellow fruits, nuts, almonds, thyme. Very rich, sweet and savoury, dense mid palate likes a good grand cru in Burgundy (commented by my friend). Very long and persistent, building up on the palate, lingering. Not easy to pin point the grape varietals as this also display touch of oiliness on the palate. Some thought Rhone Blanc too. Will surely decant my next bottle.

Served blind, this was quite impressive. Honey, citrus, nutty nose. Intense flavours on the palate, with lemons & more honey amidst a taut backbone. Impressive...

Jura with Richard Jennings (South Bay): (vines are relatively young to 1919) chardonnay. Vines range from relatively young to planted in 1919. 100% Chardonnay. Medium-plus concentration straw with reflections of gold. Slightly dog-furry nose (Brett), oxidative and savory. This is a different beast from the last two Ganevat Chardonnays: Savory, slight apple balsamic. High acid. medium plus body, medium plus alcohol.
One of the best chardonnays I’ve ever had. It has a sort of savory hazelnutty thing on the palate. Slight hint of oak, slight creme brulee on the nose, but not that prominent. Persistent finish.
I didn’t know the price when tasting it, but I wasn't surprised to find this is the most expensive of the lot at over $200. This is damn good juice.
It actually has a bit of that tertiary fruit integration on the midpalate that I’ve gotten on old Musar and aged Semillon - melded mineral, sunny straw, yellow apple, slightly honeyed savory creme. (2009 was warm, so apart from the difference in the quality of the grapes, the richer palate makes sense).
Intense flavor concentration! Superb length and integration.
$220
Whole cluster, malo, 300-400L barrels, and two tonneres bottled in the second vintage after harvest. no new oak (but spends ~two years in oak, probably 2nd, 3rd use oak. )

nez evoquant le beurre, le caramel, la pomme bien mure et le raisin frais, bouche flatteuse, d'un gras qui enrobe le palais, très puissant, avec une finale légèrement épicée, très longue. des notes de caramel salé restent en bouche

Smells of gruyere chesese, fino, honeysuckle and minerals. It is rich and layered in the mouth with plenty of ripe orchard fruits and some underlying savoury/earthy tones. It finishes with a little whip of volatility.

A real step up from the last time I had this. The nose shows very nice sweet fruit, banana, melon, pineapple, citrus; it seriously smells like the wine will have RS (which is probably a product of the jura style?). But it's totally dry, with good depth, a round smooth texture, and very good, well-integrated acid that gives the wine terrific cut. Great with food, where it shows an earthy, more savory edge. Delicious.

I liked this but it wasn't exciting or anything. Lemony fruit, I thought I picked up some banana, richish texture, and a distinct creamy/milky, but not buttery, flavor. It could have used more cut and complexity but it was nice to sip.

Ripe for Ganevat. Would be a good gateway bottle for those who don't like Jura, but disappointing if you're expecting classic Ganevat.

très vif et gras a la fois. Un superbe chardonnay crayeux aux notes de silex. Belle longueur sur des arome d'agrumes
