  • 14% alcohol. This is the "deuxième mise". Decent cork with minimal inscription. Decanted an hour ahead. The colour is dark with very limited thinning at the rim.
The nose is vivid with an interesting mix of red fruit and black olive. The mouth is similar with a certain roughness in the finish, and a flavour which is quite familiar in a non-wine context but which I can't put my finger on.
I suspect that there is a problem with this bottle as it does not seem to be on the level that I was expecting.

PS: after revisiting this bottle seven days later, I am now of the view that it is affected by a very low level of TCA, and I have changed the rubric accordingly.

  • Tasdted blimd. So right now this is ripe and tight and quite difficult to enjoy. It has drying tannins and massive concentration. But in a decade it will probably be great.

  • Random wines tasted during service (Oinoscent): From magnum (22.30 decanted in 2 carafes and left a 1/3 in the bottle, 11.40 tasted)
    -/-
The wine shows depth and high intensity in the nose, filled with dark fruit, floral notes next to blue berries, fine spicy frame, elegant without any gamey note.
In the palate, the wine shows again youthful character, fruity, tight tannins, high acidity and mineral, medium to full body, long finish.
There are a few stalky notes (or so it seems) but not aggressive or annoying only adding to its freshness. Still a lovely long life ahead, happy that I have one more magnum
    Outstanding quality

  • Been quite awhile since I tried one of these. It is delicious, but really still a baby. Still really mostly primary with gobs of ripe black fruits, blackberries, blueberries, marion berries; just a hint of minerality and really minimal if any smoke or meat. There are some floral notes that come with air. The palate is dense and packed, but well balanced with good acidity and while the tannins are still quite robust they are fine and suave. Really pretty enjoyable and should age easily another 2 decades based on this bottle.

  • Super beau encore une fois,
    souple et bien épicé.
    Similaires à mes autres notes.

  • Very nice nose of peper, very black fruit, violets... Very nice integrated tannin, loads of sappy red fruit, very nice finish.

  • 14% alcohol. The label says 2-ème mise. Very good long cork. Decanted 45 mn ahead. Very dark colour with no significant thinning at the rim.
The nose is magnificent, with violet and a very pleasant pharmaceutical note; complex and harmonious. The mouth is youthful and energetic with excellent grip and a winning juicy quality; blueberry added to the mix. No harsh tannins and no excess acidity. Pretty irresistible. Nothing rustic here.

This drinks well now, but it should improve further in the next five to ten years, and then keep for another ten.
In a word, superb, and I cannot think of a better exponent of Northern Rhône Syrah.
My wife commented that she liked it but she wished for a little bit more mellowness; I replied that it was not in the nature of the wine and I added (unwisely) "just like yourself, Dear"; glassy stare, but hopefully no lasting damage done. When will I learn?

  • Loads of tobacco/tea-like tannins. Black fruits, almost a bit plummy, spice, hint of pepper, earthy spice. A real sense of place with this wine.

  • Needed a little time, and worked best with food, but this is exactly the kind of wine that I love. Its dark, structured, a little acidic, with tons of fruit.

  • Corked, faintly so on first sip, but irremediably on second sip. My ninth corked bottle in about 825 tasting notes; not a major bugbear, but I just wish that the dice would fall on more ordinary bottles.

  • 14% alcohol. The label states "2ème mise", ie second bottling; very good to see that level of transparency. Very good dense cork with no wine penetration (generic "mis en bouteille à la propriété" inscription). Decanted an hour ahead.
Dark colour, still youthful all the way to the rim.
The nose is very appealing and unmistakably Northern Rhône, with black olive dominating; the mouth is even better, adding violet and some soft tannins in the finish. The whole experience is superb, leaving an impression of assertive balance (if there is such a thing).
Drinks fine now, but will improve over the next five years and then last another five at least.
A repeat purchase in principle, but I do not know about current prices.

  • Totally opaque. A little anis, a little earth, and maybe a little black cherry liqueur on the nose. Huge and very very generous on the palate, then moves to an increasingly tannic finish. Many years to go. I think very much worth waiting for.

  • Young, tight, lean - more like a St. Joseph, really; wait for this more to come. 91+

  • Decanted for a couple of hours. Somewhat rustic blackberry, nice acidity. Fruit and tannins have already mellowed just a touch. One of my favorite syrahs on an all star tasting night with friends.

  • Deep, inky purple. Bright nose with explosive aromas of mulberry, black cherry and plum accented with hints of game. Dense with considerable substance yet equally elegant and velvety. Such a great concentration and focus. Best of the night.

  • Very dark purple with a nose of black raspberry, smoked meat, hints of cassis, and dusty earth. The palate is very rich with mouth coating, but very fine tannin and a very unctuous texture. There is enough acidity to keep it balanced and fairly fresh. The finish is good. This is very tasty now, but has loads of potential and I won't plan on touching another for at least a decade.

  • So very tannic and tight. I'd be leaving this one 10 yrs.

Drunk over 3 days it did soften but was still coiled up.

Chalky tannin, aniseed, flinty, deep rich dark colour, medium bodied but very powerful. Became a little more velvety and will be a gorgeous wine in 10 yrs.

Hard going now but will be a 95 pointer.

Long et savoureux.
    J’adores!

  • Closed. Very. Very hard to rate.

  • Big, powerful wine. Walls of tannins surround a core of dark fruit and acid. This is going to be great, but needs some serious time to unwind.

  • Nice blast of violets and pepper in the nose. On the palate very lush and mouth filling. Nice glyceral fruit. A bit hot but very polished and slightly modern, but really enjoyable for me for its outstanding concentration of fruit.

  • Vincent Paris 2010 En Primeur Tasting - Vinoteca, February 2012 (London): Barrel sample. Nose is much tighter than 30 & 60; oak the most prominent characteristic just now. This is a bit of a monster. Masses and masses of tannin. Huge structure. Fruit is excellent though. Serious and savoury. But brooding just now. Lots of potential for those prepared to wait. 2018+
