Smelled of plum and old cellar, quite interesting. Taste was similar, lots of green notes coming through although tannins still very present. It's the kind of wine I can enjoy one glass of, but not much more.

a new world cabernet sauvignon. Deep inkish color. Nose was closed. Initially very rubber like, maybe due to reduction. Leather, black fruits, black currants. Palate is warm and full. Good wine

Bravo ! Evidently Chilean, displaying lots of blackcurrant fruit along with notes of green pepper and mint. Considering this was opened alongside a 2009 Lagrange, while slightly different in flavour profile it did itself proud. Approachable now but I should think this will improve in a couple of years.

Still pretty fruit forward. Cassis and cherry dominant flavours with a minty finish. Oak well integrated, this isn't the oak bomb the alpha used to be. Day 2 was even better, shows promise of some evolution with some secondaries showing whilst still maintaining good acidity and tannic structure. I should think this will evolve over the next few years Another year or two planned before the next bottle is opened. My final 2007 may get a look in next year if I can keep my hands off

Drinking well now with no decant. Good expression of Cab Sauv and good value. Fairly smooth and well balanced with some secondary flavours to keep things interesting.

This wine grows and develops. It starts with soft fruit and raspberry and initially is tight with a pepper body. Powder fruit then wood leads to a multidimensional finish.

Has really developed VERY well since last review of 4/29/13. Reliably good, solid Cab bottle after bottle, year after year. This had the robustness and complexity that is usually lacking in California Cabs in this price range ($20-ish). It is well-balanced, everything is well-integrated and it is 100% varietally correct. A bit of acidity to it makes it go well with a lot of different foods. Dark and inky for a Cab, mocha-earthy-touch of spices. Drinking quite well now, don't see long term cellar potential, but should drink well through 2015.

I've had several of these, trying to find its character. It was a challenge. After decanting/aeration, the wine has a slight herbal note, a bit like cab Franc. Otherwise, it seems to be a pretty unremarkable Cabernet Sauvignon.. Got these on sale, and still barely decent QPR. Typically open them very late or to take to a party of non-wine people. Maybe my batch was spoiled before it arrived to retail.

Creditable effort, although I have had better Montes Alpha Cabs. Better the second and third night, tells me it will be better with aging, although this will never compete with high end Napa Cabs. That said, if you can find this for $20 or under (on sale, for instance), worth it. Over low $20's...not as good QPR. Decent heft and fruit with medium finish. Those desiring a super Cab might be left slightly disappointed with this, but it is not a loser. Strongly believe this will be better in next 6-12 months.

Tried a sample P'n'P, and it was quite closed. Did a quick double-decant, and what a difference it made! Very nice balanced wine with ripe blackberry, vanilla, oak, med-firm tannins. Great finish. This has several years of development possibility.

PnP. Passed through a venturi. Beautiful dark bright purple color. This is too young albeit pleasurable; it shows quite a bit of those menthol/eucalyptus and maracuya notes. Tannins are quite present and this needs food. My only bottle but i think this needs at least 2 to 3 more years to integrate/balance. Lots of potential though.

Cabernet-sauvignon typique. Après 3 h en carafe, un brin tannique la première journée, mais soyeux le lendemain. Trop corsé pour un rôti de porc. Très bon Rapport Q/P.

Still needs some time for bottle age. Good price. A little heavy on the level of acid/ripe tannins. Some dark, lightly smokey berry fruit and a hint of green peppers. Palate finishes with some bitter qualities, some light earthy mushrooms/sausage. Big wine that needs food and some time/decant. Liked it enough to store a couple.

Dark ruby. Typically Chilean nose with ripe fig, loam, blackberry and electronic devices showroom. Medium-bodied, very nicely balanced with sweet and juicy tannins and moderate acidity. Fairly long aftertaste. Extremely enjoyable and a great match with a juicy tenderloin steak with mushrooms and cream.

Drank over two nights, notes from the second night. The texture of this wine really improved on the second night. Deeply coloured, with a nice nose of deep blackfruits with a hint of soy and mint. Medium-full bodied on the plush, velvety palate, with more deep blackfruits, chocolate and a touch of oak and slight ripe tannins at the back palate. No complexity yet, but it's an outstanding QPR that doesn't cheat you on intensity of flavour (A-).

Nicely structured, with mature dark fruit, solid tannins, and sweet oak notes. Great QPR, especially at Costco prices, and excellent "house wine." Day 1 was a little tight. Day 2 was much better. This will benefit from a couple of years of aging.

Not fair to rate this bottle. Drank it after two fantastic bottles of old brunellos.
Day 2: different story. Really opened up. Good structure with solid acidity. A nice hint of loam that is often found in Chilean reds. could last for many years. Great value.

Notes based on Day 2: First time in a few years for this wine. It really reminds me of Clos de los Siete, maybe minus a little intensity but with more elegance? Surprisingly good for the price. The nettle aspect that I have described in the past is present in this wine hence my comparison to Rolland. A touch of clove, loads of acid, blue-black fruit and ash. 89-90

Full body, deep ruby red. Intense ripe black and vanilla aroma. Ripe plum and black cherry palate, dark chocolate on medium long finish. Powerful and rich, bold texture, complex but dis-balanced, weak acidity and soft tannins. Drink now.

Same as 2008s, even though this wine is fit for early consumption it would take at least 3 years from harvest to enter into its drinking window. Even after more than an hour of breathing, the wine still does not show its real potential. Good nose of rasberry, coco and blueberries. Yet the secondary features is barely noticeble. This wine is great year in year out but still need to hold for a couple years before popping. I am sure it will reach high 80s in 1 year time.
