Opened 3-1/2 hrs prior to dinner & slow-oxed in Riedel BDX glasses & btl. Deep garnet w/ semi opaque ruby center. Underbrush & trace balsa aromas. Sips are a suave elegant array of; plum, cherry, licorice, mineral, trace balsamic notes & underbrush. Lifted, fresh & relatively weightless for BdM. 14.5% alc goes unnoticed. I drink most reds at sub 62 which always helps w/ higher Alc. CT says I have one more but I'm skeptical. Great, if I do though! This is in its peak drinking wdw and should easily go another 3yrs with perhaps a little upside left. Tonight's btl was stellar and a pleasant surprise from an under the radar large producer. Winemaking and aging in botti seems mostly old school. Paid $39, drinking like $75+ tonight.

What a pleasant surprise! PnP and finding it fully open and fantastic I merely slow-oxed in glass and btl for another hour before dinner. This is a 2007, right? So why does this have such an intriguing earthy underbrush nose free of warm vintage tarnish. And why is the palate so weightlessly pretty with cherry, raspberry, mineral, spice and underbrush. And even excellent lift. And the color is a translucent leaning ambered red. Nothing about this btl was boring and nothing screamed 2007. Loved it. Even the 14.5% alc went unnoticed. I do drink my reds at sub 60 which always helps with the Alc. One more btl left that I'll drink within the next couple years.

Very nicely rounded, still quite intense and medium+ tannins. Rusty red, reminiscent of Nebbilo, but less umami and black pepper. Not overly complex, but rich, fruit well integrated, generally in a good state. 90-91p

Very nice nose of a mature wine, with red berries, leather, tea. On the palate a Little less interresting, acidity is in the right Place, but the fruit is becoming quite light and does not really hold up. Drink now.

Opened about an hour before drinking. Seemed like not much on nose and harsh with nonexistent finish. Maybe bottle off? Is this shutdown or past? Ended up opening bottle 06 Maronetto, which drank much better. I have several left and will drink another to see if it was an off bottle...then maybe leave a couple to sit for a couple more years.

Herbs, licorice and thinner (!) on the nose. The palate has a medium body, dryish tannins and some licorice in the finish. Had hoped for more fruit and a different texture. Past prime already?

Typical of its terroir and very young. Juicy, medium plus to high acid, tannic grip, balanced. Not quite in its drinking window, the wine should evolve for three to five years and drink beautifully through 2027. 91-92.

bright ruby. I remember this to be more vibrant and fleshy than this bottle suggests. classic red cherry nose, with thyme, spices and gravel, somewhat muted and a bit dull. Palate is backward and all about sleek sangio structure at this stage, fruit is buried underneath. Finish is shorter than i expected, with cherry, menthol and spices. probably need more time

Open nose with some development. Nutty with cherry aromas. Spices and dried tobacco. Mute fruit impression. Open palate with some development. Tannic and a bit dry. More acid than fruit. Salmiak, sour cherries, roast coffee. Slightly unbalanced and without depth and persistence. Solid Brunello rather uninspiring.

I drank this wine after it had been decanted for about one hour. I believe it needed at least another hour of airing. It still tasted a bit hot and tannic and it took awhile for the flavors to smooth out. This isn't the best Brunello I've had, but it has a lovely mid-palate and a nice finish. I bought it at Costco for around $36, which seems cheap for a Brunello even by Costco's standards.

Just upon opening I got some awkward cherry candy and a soapy kind of aroma. After two-three hours of decanting those aromas disappeared and more classic tuscan nose with sour cherries, black tea, dusty road, basil and some decaying leaves appeared.
It has some development but it's definitely on the young side. Good structure and a very good example of what Brunello taste like but somehow lacks a bit of personality. Drinking good today but this one will last for a good while, so no hurry.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Tight nose giving way to some aromas of berries, white peppers and wet stones. Flavors of plums, berries and raspberries. Bright acidity, firm tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold but I'd lean towards holding another 3 years before trying again.

Aroma: Very strong with lots of dark berries and very full bodied. Hint of ethanol
Taste: Very good acidity, and filled with blueberries oak and some forrest aromas. The tannins were strong and well balanced. Did very much benefit from some airation.

PnP in Reidel BDX and drank over 3 hours. Relatively primary at this point. Shows good balance, smooth tanins and long finish but not a lot layers at this point. Some spice and tar mixed with some red fruit flavors. Pretty closed on the nose. I'll wait till 2017 now for the next one.

Sydney Italian Wine Festival - Tuscan Red Masterclass: Dark fruit - blackcurrant, plum and some coffee. High tannin impact, with the acidity on the high side as well. I think the structure is good and perhaps with more time it will feel more harmonious.

Herbal and floral notes on the nose, and a bit of sulphur too. Good dose of acid and tannin on a light to medium body. Needs time or decanting. Great food wine. I'm thinking short ribs from Tableau.

very well made effort. Great and pure nose with traditional red cherry, tobacco, menthol, dust, minerals. Palate is full bodied but not heavy, a healthy dose of acidity keeps things fresh. complexities are hinting on the palate but this needs more time to really show. Rich but still elegant, a wine in harmony that needs to flesh out more. Long, long, spicy finish.

Montalcino visit June 2012; 6/8/2012-6/10/2012 (Montalcino): Initially some hints of burned rubber. This blew off after a few minutes in the glass. Light ruby color. Full aromas of ripe red fruit, some dried herbs and cedar. Full bodied with smooth tannins and balanced acidity. A long finish. Not even close to the great 2006 Brunello of this producer.
