Elegant but full flavoured. A great cool climate shriraz that is drinking beautifully (suspect at its peak).
Fully integrated tannins after a 2hr decant, the bouquet has dark fruits but isn’t huge. The pallate is big but not flabby (like some warm climate shirazes can be) with just a tad of restraint evident to deliver a truely enjoyable wine.
Although I love my big warm climate shirazes with a good dose of French oak, I truely appreciate the delicate (but still powerful) cool climate shiraz that this is.
I should buy more and lay them down as this was the last bottle of 2 (the other was a 2008 which was slightly past its peak). My advice if you have this - drink up and don’t risk it. It’s gorgeous.

Closed when initially opened but opened up over an hour and a half. Cool climate fruit and pepper. Dark berries, nice acid and tannins, good wood treatment. Holding up very well and will develop further in the cellar. Perfect with grilled rib eye steak.

Crimson red, medium body, lots of white pepper, red fruits, esp ripe cherries, almost pinot like ..juicy and lingering on the finish. Very cool climate style but manages to balance ripeness, sweetness, oak and spice very well. Delicious and reasonable abv as well. This has improved since last tasting a year ago...drink now or hold. Light to medium bodied with hints of strawberries or even rhubarb. Spicy, peppery finish. Lovely food wine which has opened our eyes to Victorian Shiraz.

Bottled under Stelvin and interestingly, labelled for export to the UK.
A good dark red colour. Nose shows mint and aged wood, but not oak. An intriguing, almost musty, old wood. No pepper and certainly nothing green or vegetative. Decent length, lovely and smooth on the mid pallet. Juicy and delicious but not overcooked.
Requires a little decanting to expose the nice minty, woody secondary characters. Well worth it though.
Very good effort for the price.

Competent well executed example of cool climate shiraz but possibly doesn't live up to the accolades it has received. Finish not quite right to my taste.

Med purple colour Nose dominated by blackberries, black olives, raspberries, coffee, set amongst a minerally and slightly herbaceous background. Deep and concentrated sweet and savoury core of raspberries, blackberries, olives, sweet spices, dried herbs with well integrated vanilllin oak. Med plus body, long length, smooth tannins, med plus acidity. A fantastic cool climate Shiraz that is more Syrah-like with the savoury dark fruits. Great intensity and depth of flavour. Will buy some more to cellar.

The Cliff Edge Shiraz has to be one of the most consistent labels i've tasted over the last few years, the wine punches well above it's price point and is my go to wine.
The 2010 is a deep red in colour, it opens with a stalky plum laden nose with depth and savouriness that has a floral, almost pinot like elegance.
A medium bodied palate with plum, a touch of blackberry and black pepper is supported by rounded oak, subtle spices and textural savoury tannins add complexity.
The finish matches drying tannins with sweeter vanillin oak and purity of fruit, a stellar wine from the Grampians. Review Link - www.winereviewer.com.au (drink from 2014-2024)

Didn't like this as much as the 2009. Whereas that was complex, balanced cool climate 'shiraz', this has moved into 'syrah' country. Black pepper and herbs season more briary, wild blackberries. Lots of structure, but just not as enjoyable upon release than the previous vintage. Not bad all the same, just not great (yet.)

The Cliff Edge has a rich dark nose of roasted coffee and aniseed. It is a big dark wine with strong tannins balanced well against dark berry and mocha flavours. It’s savoury and dark profile are enticing in youth but patient cellaring of 5 or more years will benefit this wine, adding to its complexity while the tannins soften. 94points +
At Dan Murphy's for $22.79 this is an absolute bargain! For more reviews of the best wines currently on the market visit us at Share Wine Online.

2012 Sydney Royal Wine Show - Trophy Wines lunch (Darling Harbour, Sydney): Trophies – Best wine of Show, Best Red of Show, Best Shiraz {screwcap, 13.5%} Yet another anonymous semi-commercial offering that carries off all the silverware. I don’t know how the judges do it. A layer of youthful musk-like sweet aromatics overlay some blackcurrant fruit, but it really does remain quite confected. The palate is quite rich and sweetly-fruited, with gentle oak and a solid mid-palate, medium powdery tannins and a surprisingly long finish but one which is devoid of much complexity. Really good effort for a $20-ish wine; pity the nose is so bizarre. But best red of show? Nahh…

Tasted blind at an Options night. Textbook cool climate Victorian Shiraz with slightly cordialled raspberry and freshening white pepper and fennel.
Really over-delivers for its price point. Very fresh, so should have years to go, but it's gorgeous now so I'm not sure there's a benefit to waiting.

Beautifully fragrant wine with lifted notes of violets, black cherries, stewed plums and white pepper.
Tannins are integrated, soft and silken, almost pinot-esque.
Seamless length and restrained weight. Harmonious balance.
Beautiful wine in its prime
