Had a ‘12 a couple weeks back and this added another dimension for sure… all’s come around beautifully, browning notes beginning to come through the color, followed by a delicious palate of blackberry, smoky leather. Seriously good quality stuff

Wished I had liked this better given the pedigree. A sold offering with Black berry, forest notes and hint of meat juice. Big presence. Tannins are tad bitter not as polished.

Monday night heaters (Chicago, IL): Initially, this was just an inky wine, with lots of black fruit, a fair touch of oaky polish, with a massive scale that seemed out of proportion with the vintage. Then you give this a few hours of air and this gets serious. It lightens up and you get more lift, and the oak seems to recede a bit, giving way to some brine and olive elements on the nose. Nevertheless, an extremely tannic wine with huge structure that still needs a good decade or so to fully resolve.

This is as close to perfection in Syrah as I've ever experienced (including the La La's). Smoked meat mingles with dark fruits on the nose. Gorgeous balance of pure fruit with fresh acidity lingers for what seems like an eternity on your palate. Didn't even have to decant - this is ready to go but nowhere near at the end of its life.

La Tablee: Grand Tasting (26 Bridge Street, Brooklyn): From a magnum (didn't even realize you could find magnums from this producer). It's wonderful to see what even a few years in a bottle can do for these wines. This is just excellent. So fresh and clear and darker fruit and gravel and tannin that is just at the right level to add structure. Of course still young, but just lovely.

Appearance: Bright and clear, it has deep ruby color, with fading rims and legs. Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of black fruit of blackberry, plum and dark cherries, floral notes of violet, oak notes of smoke, maturity notes of savory, herbal notes of rosemary, animal notes of meaty. The wine is developing. Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) tannin of ripe and silky texture, the wine has medium alcohol and medium body, showing medium (+) intensity flavors of black fruit of blackberry and dark cherries, oak notes of smoke, herbal notes of rosemary, floral notes of violet. The wine has a medium finish. Conclusion: Very good quality Rhone Cote Rotie with a fine elegant nose that is extremely pleasing, showing the varietal Syrah characters to the best, with an intense nose of good complexity. The palate is balanced, well-structured and juicy, with good concentration and complexity as well as a reasonable length on the finish. It is ready to drink now though can benefit from further ageing of another 3-5 years.

A few years ago I felt that the wood on this wine was rather overdone, and entertained some skepticism about its future; but tasting it again I was forced to revise my opinion, as the wine has really begun to gobble up its new wood, offering up a very perfumed bouquet of fruity black pepper, violets and blackcurrants, with only a hint of wood spice. On the palate the wine is beginning to unwind, with crunchy fruit and a firm core of tannins, good acids, and overall a very pure impression. While I still prefer Yves' whites to his reds, I loved this and the way it's developing.

Black fruit, grilled meat, smoke, with nice violet undertone. Fairly prominent oak and modern in style. Muscular and robust on the palate, heavily structured. 13% alc. Drinking acceptably now, but could use 5 years to mellow. Pair with brisket, game, or other grilled meats, olive tapenade. :: Spring Restaurant, Paris 11/2013

Earthy rock nose with hints of fruits and floral. Good complexity on the palate. Nice floral, fruity and attractive finish. A friend says the traces of oak in this wine is too obvious and noticeable. Whether the oaky influence adds complexity and achieve harmonious balance or gets in the way of other subtle flavors is totally up to your own judgement. I just love it on the Friday afternoon.

Amazing, and more impressive are comments from my 11 year old daughter: noze of smoked salmon, black olives and blueberries. And I fully agree. Well balanced and very long finish. This wine is a beauty.

Love how the white pepper resolves into an earthy, creamy mouthfeel with a fun spectrum of spice notes and a hint of blackberry.

This one was corked and it hurt my heart. Destined for a very expensive boeuf bourguignon. Sigh...

Not a fan of these funky monkey wines. Where others see artisinal wonder I get sweaty meet peppered with watery paprika.

great Syrah, but a fair amount of oak present at opening. Was much better after being open 3 hours, and next day. Recommend cellaring.
