I thought this had a nice funk at the beginning and it’s tannins more resolved and approachable than the GE 83 drank side by side, but this faded quickly. I preferred the 93 GE more but overall still liked the more modern wines post 1990.

Still hanging in there. It has lost some fruit on the nose and palate, but still a delicious quaffe. Age has enhanced the smoke and earth notes of this wine.

Dried Red fruits, perfumed, flora, some spices notes like cinamon. Pronounced nose and good acidity. Did not decant the wine, upon opening, the nose is immediately showing and improved further in 2-3 hours in glass. After 2-3 hours, it show more of fig and prune. Very impressed with the quality of wine despite a relative vintage.

Amazing aromatic complexity. A deep, rich and complex wine. Supple and silky tannins. Classic DRC texture. Fruit is very much in tact and still bright and well balanced. Like this better than the 83 Grands.

Immediately effusive nose of sweet dark fruit, with just a hint of spice. In the mouth the sweetness of the fruit is really quite striking. A mature wine with largely resolved tannins, this wines is quite good and incredibly easy to drink. The Burghound must have had a strikingly different wine than what I found in bottle #799.

Lovely old Burgundy that is right in tertiary territory. There are notes of beef stock, hoisin, spruce and cold tea. It is sweet and vinous in the mouth and crammed full of earthy goodness. Acidity is still good and length of flavour sneakily persistent.

This bottle was even better than the last as it got to spend some time in decanter that released more red fruit and tobacco flavours and the musty earthiness blew off.

What a bouquet! really blew me away, could hardly put the glass down. Very refined in the mouth, rose petals, cherry , asian spices and a bit earthy at the end. terrific now, but will last.

Light Lumber in the High Country; 4/30/2009-5/2/2009: An amazing over-performer. This was really quite a surprisingly spectacular bottle. Very earthy, classic mature Vosne spice, penetrating long finish. Delish.

Brooklyn Dinner with DJCV: Ex-Jim bottle. Very funky nose and slight signs of maderization on the nose. Mostly secondary.
