Not much life left here unfortunately. Structure is pretty much gone. Minimal fruit on the nose, none to find on the palate. Earth and graphite take over on the back

An hour's decant will open the wine up. Garnet, with bricking, and showing very definite legs in the glass, there are are aromas of blackcurrant and cherry, leather, menthol, vanilla and woodiness. Acidity is medium, with a surprisingly creamy mouthfeel, with flavours of sweet cherry and dry woodiness. As other contributors have noted, the tannins are still present, particularly in the dry finish. However, this is a solid traditional claret . It won't blow your socks off,nor will it disappoint. No hurry to drink up.

Ny god flaske av denne vinen. Denne gang CS-dominert aromabilde. Mye solbær, paprika. Flott balanse i munn. Litt karamellslækk på duft innimellom, får litt trekk for dette. Ellers noe av det bedre man finner av fruktdrevet klassisk Bordeaux til denne prisen

Lanessan 2011: veldig godt balansert, flott Bordeaux. Klassiske aromaer av solbær, blyant, tobakk. Pent balansert, mye frukt. Også flott balanse i munn. Drikker godt nå og fremstår som anvendelig. Utrolig godt kjøp til prisen 60 cabernet, 36 merlot, 4 petit verdot. 12 mnd på fat. Sterk 89-poenger

Very classic. Not much fruit. Very gentlemen's club of dusty leather & cigar box. Slightly spicy finish with a velvet mouthfeel. Very mid weight. No real change over 3-4 hours. Held up well against a rich Indian curry. Satisfying without being special.

Typical Medoc aromas, with dark red fruits, blackcurrant, herbs and some wood. Surprisingly fresh fruit in the mouth. Full bodied and concentrated, maybe somewhat extracted. The 2011 seems more modern and extracted than older vintages. I feel this will benfit from another 5 years in the cellar.

This is a steal at €11, but it needs time. The lack of vintage ripeness definitely shows as a peppery edge, but it’s firm and well built nonetheless. Good energy and decent concentration. Cherry/red currant fruit, soil, cedar, tobacco. Classic bdx

No aromatic bomb, but very elegant and refined. Some cherries, and great nuances of earth tones and leather. I would say this vintage is underestimated after the fantastic 2009 and 2010.

The 2011 Chateau Lanessan is evidence that in a poor vintage, the entry level red Bordeaux are not worth buying at any price. It manages to be watery and somewhat bitter at the same time. It is drinkable, but not something one would serve to a guest. Best used for cooking.

From 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot, the wine will be aged in 33% new oak. This wine is lightly colored, medium bodied, and ends with fresh cranberry flavors. 86-88 Pts

Mursteinsrød mørk farge.
Mørk frukt dominerer smaken. Mye eikepreg både på lukt og smak.
Middels lengde. Ikke så mye tanniner.
En god Bordeaux, men litt hardt eiket.

Dusty, smoky and laced with tobacco. The blackcurrant fruit is present if dwindling. Professionally made but drink up asap.
