Don’t really have the vocabulary to break this down but it’s not spoiled. Red fruit up front, cherries and plenty of that gravel at the finish. We’re going to drink this.

Mucho vino at the 15th annual birthday jeebus. (Joe's.): I apparently missed its best showing, which occurred when it was first opened and didn't get to it until the bottle had been open a half an hour or so. I found the nose more enjoyable than the palate, where it showed coffee notes, desiccated red fruit, leather, tobacco and a touch of herb. The first sip showed a quick hit of old red fruit, but the fruit was fleeting and very quickly the earth and leather elements took over. Drying and a bit over the hill, though king of the wine necrophiliacs, Jay Miller, enjoyed it more than I did. Low B-.

educational evening with some close friends.: Carmine with a brown edge. There still is some fruit in the beautiful mature bouquet. Oak as well. The tannin is softened, but there is still enough to keep this wine alive a little longer. Quite much acidity and some bitter in the aftertaste.

Académie des Cinquante Du Tertre / Giscours Tasting (Hostellerie van Gaalen, Heeze, the Netherlands): Delicate, light and lively, remarkably vital like many 1967's still are; an elderly lady but with few wrinkles.

Christie's Pre-Sale Tasting (Amsterdam): Firmer, but also slightly stiffer than the Margaux 1967, slightly edgy acidity.
