Bold but not overpowering. Alcohol is not too high. Not something I would drink everyday but wanted to catch my friends off guard and not one guessed Zin. Calls were more Italian.

Drank this at a friend's house with steak kebabs. This friend likes aged wines. I had never had an aged Turley Zin (usually a fruit bomb in its youth). Amazing to see how muted this was with age. My taste preference is old world, not a fan of fruit bombs so I enjoyed this very much. The fruit had died down considerably compared to a young Turley Zin. Vanilla is very balanced at this point as is the oak. However, given that most Turley fans prefer fruit bombs, for most people this wine would be way past its prime. Tasted like dark fruits (but very muted), a hint of wood, leather and a bit of spice. Very nice and aligned to my taste palette (although I am very aware that at this stage, for most folks this would be underwhelming)

Very much enjoyed this. Very fruity but without being over the top and the vanilla is very well controlled. I usually do not enjoy heavy oak driven wines and this one did not hit me as overpowering. Very nice

This was peaking tonight I think. A nice nose of crushed raspberries with slightly restrained sour cherry, pepper, ample tannins and a bit of heat in the finish.

A gorgeous, semi-aged zin. Pure raspberry cut with lavendar and cracked pepper on the nose. Raspberry dominated palate with a peppery finish. Lots of verve. Not heavy despite the alcohol. Great.

Opaque ruby and heavily extracted, the 2010 Turley Dogtown weighs in at a lofty 16.2% alcohol. It is absolutely imperative that this wine be served at approximately 60°F, as higher serving temperatures will lead to domination by the alcohol. That said, at the appropriate temperature, this is an intriguing Zinfandel that is packed with maraschino cherries, Santa Rosa plums, baking spices and bittersweet chocolate. Full-bodied and with low-to-medium acidity, it supports its ripe fruit with ample polished tannins. Layered and dense in the middle, it closes with an extremely long finish. For fans of Turley's style, this wine is just what the doctor ordered. That said, I am concerned that, given the high alcohol sticker, it will become disjointed before it concludes the drinking window specified by many professional tasters. I would opt for drinking it within the next two years. Drink now-2018.

Nose of raisin, plum, date, leather, and tobacco. Similar taste. The sweetest Turley imbibed to date. The wine is taking on Rhone qualities. I would guess in a blind tasting that this is French. Perhaps the flavor profile is a result of the age? Such a sweet finish; very surprising. It is a nice change, and maybe a good reason to age Zinfandel. Finally, this sort of reminds me of Emidio Pepe (fine Montepulciano), but more sweet. Black cherry.

Nothing especially to write home about, relative to other Turley. Less complex, with slightly more aggressive alcohol and a bit less finished seeming than their other bottlings usually are. It's not a bad zin by any stretch, but it's not great either.

Did not seem like 16.2%, but it is full bodied. Tannin/acid finish is resolved providing balance to the maturing fruit. I think I would have enjoyed this younger. Still an excellent Zinfandel.

Decanted for over 2 hours and poured into glass a dark reddish-purple. The nose is full of dark fruit, cranberry, salinity, sweet lavender, and lots of heat. The palate is chock full of cranberry, blueberry, tart cherry, black plum, raisin, cough drop, fresh violet, sweet pipe tobacco, cherry pie, graham cracker, green peppercorn, dried oregano, vanilla bean, and baking spices. Body is full and finish is medium plus with flavors of sweet strawberry. The high alcohol only shows on the nose. Definitely drinking well right now, but could go a few more years.
Nice fruit up front, a bit soft in the middle, surprisingly little heat on the finish. Got better with air; should have decanted first. At the outer edge of my personal drinking window for turley wines.

Give this one some air time if you plan to open it now. Straight out of the bottle it was very jammy and at 16%+ alcohol it approached that of a very smooth port for me.
With air and 2 hours of time it toned down and for me was more enjoyable. I'm giving my remaining bottles another year before I try another.

A highly extracted wine that was somewhat one dimensional in my assessment. The fruit at this point in time dominates. It will be interesting to see if it integrates better over time.

Won this at recent auction. Turley Zins even from Lodi still taste great. Fruit forward but smooth and strong finish. 16.2% is covered with a big bow of softish Tannins. I won't buy this wine, but very happy to change it up and enjoy with a grilled steak.

Father forgive me for I have sinned. A two Turley Monday night! This wine has much less structure than the Hayne we just finished-softer and lighter-more playful-more front of the tongue. But this is still a Turley, no mistake about that.

Pretty purple in the glass with a nose heavy on purple fruits and some spice. Mouthfeel is great with nice balance of fruit and acidity and a very pleasing finish. A really nice drinking Zinfandel that while maybe a little young is hard to not enjoy now so why not...

Pop-n-pour this starts out with a woody, muted nose and astringent, almost medicinal on the palate. About an hour's air helps smooth it out and the fruit beings to emerge. Recommend hold for a year in hope of better integration.
