Still drinking well in my opinion. A little less zing, but a nice lemon peal note through the palate. More structure and texture than it appears, which is nice. A slight grassy nose gave this away as a NZ sauv blanc. At 5 years in the bottle, its probably topped out. This was my last bottle.

A very good, typical SB from New Zealand. Drinks very well with light asian fare, refreshing with citrus scents and taste. Reaching the end of its peak, but still a pleasure.

Excellent SB from New Zealand. Richer texture than other SBs I've had recently. Plenty of body with a clean citrus/straw tone. Let this warm slightly, my first glass was a bit tight, but I left the bottle sit out. Second glass brought more complexity to the nose and palate. Hints of floral up front, others reference butterscotch which I completely agree with. This would be something a chardonnay lover could easily enjoy.

This is very good for such a cheap bottle. It remains one of my favourites for every-day drinking as it is so adaptable. Drank with cod in miso broth. Not as acidic and sherbetty as some NZ SBs and creamier and richer with hints of butterscotch.

Very impressed with this for Nobilo's lower end bottling. It went very well with rosemarry chicken and baby red potatos. Light color hides the substantial weight and flavors that follow. Very nice balance of citrus, tropical fruit and grassy flavors with above average acidity. Finish is fairly long and primarily citrus zest. All in all, a very nice SB for around $12.

Dripstone Cliffs - May 2005; 5/13/2005-5/27/2005 (Darwin NT, Australia): One of my favourite sauv blancs so I was a little disappointed with this bottle, not quite up to previous bottles. Bright , straw coloured. Fragrant complex nose, with a strong fruit, (tomato vine) aroma. Green crisp acid with a medium sweet taste. It had a medium body with a medium to long finish. Overall still very pleasant although this bottle seem a little tart possibly a bit to strong in the acid. Ovall still a very pleasant fragrant wine that is quite rich, if not slightly unbalanced.

I would personally rate this wine even a bit higher (88/89). It was part of a 3-white blind tasting we did this evening. My three guests ranked it second out of three. I am not certain that it will have wide appeal and it will probably become much more graceful with age. It is definitely grassy but not in the sense that the grape did not ripen properly before harvest. I found the citrus and grass combination of tastes to be interesting and pleasant. Serving some tomatoes with just old balsamic vinegar improved the opinons of the group. It should be a star with tomato salads, salad Nicoise and tomato and seafood bisque. Of course any number of chicken, pork and dishes and pasta with sun-dried tomatoes with a bit of red pepper might pair well too. For died-in-the-wool Chard lovers this is not the place to start investigating S. Blanc but for those who love the differences that N.Z. and Australian wines offer I think this is a bargain at $10-11 before case discounts.

Purchased for $12 at Sam's. Fresh and juicy tropical fruit flavors, with some lime zest on the finish. Smooth and mouth-filling. Not as zingy as I was expecting. I like my NZ sauvies a little more bracing. Nonetheless, a nice starter wine to an evening and a decent value.

Really good if you like New Zealand SB, which I do. Had this in other years, and always a winner, although 2004 seems particularly rich. Citrusy, juicy fruit. Almost a butterscotchy thing going on underneath. Thick with a long tart finish. Went really well with a pasta dish with a very simple anchovy garlic sauce (it was milder than that sounds). This was a gift so don't know how much it cost but 2001 and 2002 a few years ago was around $10, and at that price excellent QPR.

Fantastic tropical fruit on this one. Wish the finish could be a little longer...but a great wine overall.

Not bad - Very different than California Sauv. Blancs. A little bit greener, herbal. Nice, but I will search for better.

Some butterscotch at first, then the citrus comes through. Leaving it open softened it quite a bit. A good value.

Very tasty! If blindfolded I would have said this was ruby red grapefruit wine.

One of my favourite NZ SBs. Not as sherbetty as a lot of NZ SBs - grassy with just enough citrus.
