Wonderfully uncomplicated and friendly mencia. Some herbal green hints, as expected, but otherwise driven by juicy grapey red fruits. Bordering on 'sweet', at least for my tastes, but seems very well suited to the build of this wine. Must have 2 - 3 years of good drinking left.

Mencia is a lesser known grape but such an interesting mix of fruit and minerality. Maybe this is the Spanish Beaujolais — delicate fruit, floral, moderate tannins, a hint of earthiness and extreme quaffability when served cool. Drinks with ease but still interesting. Serve at 16C. Drink now-2016. Food pairing idea: Aperitif, vegetarian pizza with olives.

(WineGate) Clear, mid ruby color. Clean nose of medium intensity, fresh aromas of red currants, cranberries, sour cherries, nutmeg. Youthful and very attractive. Dry, medium body, medium intensity, medium alcohol (13.5%), meduim+ acidity, medium tannis, thin concentration of flavors, steely, cranberries, sour cherry, lacking balance due to acidity, aggressive, mid finish. Good wine, mid price. Drink now could age further.

Wine Education Service - The New Spain: Bright, very light gold. Lovely nose, gently aromatic, flowers and vegetables. Fruity, refreshing, well-balanced, quite bitter in the mid palate, quite long.

A bit thicker and more modern than I remember the '10 being last year, still a decent wine, but I'm less enthusiastic.
