un joli St Emilion à point. les fruits rouges et noires sont toujours présents au nez et en bouche et dominent les aromes tertiaires (tabac, pruneau et cuir) 98 est vraiment un millésime réussi sur St Emilion

My last auction bottle, nose of barnyard, black cherry, and plum, same on the palate, medium/big body, at peak time to drink up, smooth, rich, great fruit, elegant, mouth filling fruit, and a long, flavorful finish and lovely aftertaste.

Good aged wine but can still age further and still developing. Tertiary aromas have showed up but fruit is still dominant (red fruits: strawberry, cherry, mulberry) glimpse of earthy notes, mushroom are appearing. Mouth is balanced and quite long finale. 98 is a very good vintage for St Emilion and shows the upside of the Merlot

Tasted blind. A rather meager wine with a green touch. The aromas are nice with dark fruit and forest floor aromas. From a period where overall ripeness was not always achieved.

Medium garnet color, showing some age tones at the rim. Pleasant bouquet with some depth and volume: Leather, lovage, some dusty tannins, even some fruity aromas still present. On the palate the wine, which has moved into the secondary stage of its life, has medium weight and length; it is svelte, pleasantly complex and deep, with everything well integrated. it became more enticing and exciting with increased exposure to air. Really a pleasant surprise! Tannins seem to come to the foreground though, I thing this one should be consumed over the next 5 years.

From memory, this is certainly ready to drink and possibly is just at the beginning of a gradual decline. The fruit has faded somewhat but showed good depth and balance with a decent finish.

Drank this wine at Tunglok Xihe (Orchard Central) for a wine dinner. Theme of the evening: Old World Merlot dominant wines which are 5 years and older.
The oldest wine of the evening, and the primary notes are starting to fade. Some hints of berries and prunes, with dark chocolate and some tobacco. Structure is starting to come down and the secondary notes are evolving.
Wait for the evolution and taste in 2 years time if you can; drink up if you can't.

Suffered in comparison to the Moulin St Georges. Decent, very decent. But darker, more tannic and less voluptuous. Blacker berried fruits, more structure. Enjoyable drop but no wow factor. Just maybe it actually needs a bit more time yet to blossom.

Vanilla, cassis, chocolate and a touch of tobacco on the nose, much the same in the mouth, quite a pleasing middle section showing better freshness, but overall one dimensional and similar to any number of other 98 St.Emilions: not a bad wine, although starting to decline already, but boring. Needs finishing.

Deep ruby. Lovely exotic nose, plenty of plummy fruit and exotic spices. Decanted about two hours. Rich fruit, more plum than black. Dark chocolate, warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.Soft fine tannins. Hedonistic. Maybe lacking a bit of length and complexity but a very pleasurable drink.

Ruby colour, actually this colour looked young, it was tight at first and after 45 mins bottle decant, it showed blackberry, black currant, vanilla and some wet wood. The palate is quite simple, sweet and less acidity, soft tannins, midium to full body, finish short.

1st bordeaux of the night, the colour certainly look quite young, the nose is ok, chocolate, dark fruits and slight damp earth. Palate is quite simple with a slight dusty tannins and the finish is moderate. Good but not great wine.

Pretty good, albeit somewhat one-dimensional. Dark fruited with good length and structure, this shows maybe a touch too much oak, still, although I believe that will integrate completely in the next few years. Entirely drinkable right now, even without decanting, this is a good $25 bottle of Bordeaux. If you paid more than that, you'll likely be disappointed. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Not as good as the last bottle I tasted and over shadowed by the 2000 Paradigm Cab with a roast tenderloin dinner. Still a very good wine, earthy with cheery flavors. Finish falls short.

Decanted for an hour before tasting, the nose revealed an unexpected but very pleasant smell of an Indian restaurant -- exotic spices and warmth. On the palate, soft and accessible, with blackberries and smoke throughout the long finish. Paired exceptionally well with oven-roasted pheasant basted lightly with a raisin sauce.

Solid wine. Popped and poured. Color still looks fairly youthful with no browning around the edges. Nose shows really nice plum fruit, smoke, and dried/grilled herbs. Good texture and roundness. Cherry and plum flavors dominate, but in a very feminine structure. Extremely elegant. I suspect that friends of high extraction will not like this wine, but friends of elegant, terroir-driven wines will love this, especially as a food companion. Consumed with roast duck tonight.

Really enjoed this bottle that I brought to dinner at Gramery Tavern NYC. Rich, elegant, with wonderful cherry fruit and earthy flavors. Perfect with the roasted pig.

This bottle showed better than a bottle opened in Nov '05. Exhibited a nice, cedary element and hint of earth on the nose indicating a bit of complexity coming with age. Medium body and mostly red fruit. Still a bit of tannin to resolve. I will try and hold my last 2 until at least age 10.

Pleasing, easy St. Emilion. CA-like with it's simple fruit and oaky spice (not overbearing). Fairly well balanced and medium bodied. Didn't impress, but didn't disappoint. Maybe time will add a dimension.

Physical signs of its age, appropriate for its age, and drinking very nicely still. I'd push the drink by out a while if well stored. Very good
