  • Just about at peak now, the oak has been absorbed and the tannin has melted. Still a bit of the high-toned cherry top note. No sign of the oxidation others have mentioned. Not the most complex thing I've had recently, but a lovely, medium-bodied wine, and closer to a point than the last few 2010 Burgs I've tried. And this inspired me to pick up some 2019.

  • Delicious Oregon PN. Needed 30 minutes to open and held the rest of the evening. I think this one is hitting its prime.

  • Less appealing than the bottle tasted in March. Less expansive, if somewhat less oxidative as well. There is substance to it, but it lacks a Wow! factor.

  • Delicious, light PN in the Oregon style. Great complexity. Opened quickly but held well into the second evening.

  • A very nice wine, but also somewhat oxidative, which added some nuance, but was also distracting. In the Burgundian style, yet the presence of fruit, and distinctive WV terroir, leave no doubt as to its provenance. Looking forward to the other bottle. If less oxidative, it might rock!

  • There is no rush to get this down. While it is not gaining a ton of complexity, it is very pretty after 10 years. I don’t think this is gonna be a great tertiary wine so I would recommend 15–20yrs from vintage as it’s ideal window. Ideal storage of course.

  • Decanted an hour ahead of grilled sockeye salmon, rice, and salad. Consistent with previous notes from a year ago. However, the palate was somewhat elusive on this tasting, perhaps it needed more air? Still, this is an old-world style, delicate beauty that brings strawberries, blackberries, black tea, forest floor, herbs and wood smoke. Will probably improve through 2020. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 91.

  • Colourwise the Cuvée J 2010 was really bright, slightly aged in the coronal areas and well equipped with radiant translucent qualities. Its nose convinced me with highly elegant appearing whiffs of spring flowers - mostly white ones with some complementary bright red roses and one or the other supporting violet. Furthermore I got attractive fragrances which remined me of fresh strawberries and a hand full of raspberries. These attributes and the underlying herbal spice were definitely expressive, but never over the top or even superimposed. Quite some serious filigree business I should say! On the palate the J's subtle finenesse contiuned! Aromas were pretty much the same! Well, perhaps with an additional and rather shy appearing minor portion of red currant and more typical foilage'y undergrowth. There was more vibrance and densitiy to the palate. Also without being too extrovert or boastful, but a little bit less shy! Which was perfectly fine to me! The long lasting finish was highly noteworthy as well!

  • Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Germany and Oregon (Asperg): Together with the 2008 Fürst my WOTN. Clean, medium intense, youtful-developing nose. Very cool, fine and elegant with red fruit (strawberry), dried fruit, floral notes (rose petals), herbs, soil, underbrush and fine oak.
Dry, medium+ intense, ripe and vibrant acidity. Medium+ fine and mellow tannin. 13% abv. On the palate again very elegant, cool flavors of violets, roses, red fruit, spices. Lots of finesse and drinking flow. Medium+/long finish. Very burgundian in style. I guess this wine is not yet at its peak and can age gracefully over the next 5-10+ years. 92-93++

  • Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: From southern Germany to Oregon Pinot (Private Location): This is really the most burgundian approach to the grape variety out of all the Oregon Pinots we had tonight. A wonderful elegant nose driven by red fruit components like strawberry, dried cranberries and a bit of raspberry mixed with rose petals, lavender, a hint of orange zest but also earthy notes like wet wood, underbrush and wet clay. Really complex and changes over time. This really hits the spot for me, I’m just a sucker for this kind of flavour profile. The palate is also very elegant, fresh and vibrant. The acidity and the tannins are wonderfully interwoven. Good length and a bit of red licorice on the back end. A truly stunning showing imo and together with the Fürst my (red) WOTN. This is really worth to seek out. Even the price of 45 bucks is absolutely on point.

  • Opened 90-min ahead of roasted salmon dinner. Pale, red ruby color. Nose brings candied raspberries, potpori, red roses, wild herbs, and lavender. The palate is medium, concentrated, round, and tart, bringing lush cherries, blackberries, tangerines, cinammon sticks, cloves, and rhubarb pie. The finish is still evening out but brings a good frame and sturdy tannins. I will hold my last bottle until after 2018. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92.

  • Thursday Night Tasting with Tim and Friends: Probably not the right time to be drinking this but I grabbed this on the way out the door more as a conversation point for Tim visiting from Europe to try to show a good Burgundy-styled new world pinot. Still some high-toned vanilla-oaky aromas always in this wine on release, a little tutti-fruity with a strong note of watermelon (!) that dissipates over 2 hours revealing more of the earthy-structured character that suggests Burgundy to many reviewers. Not flawed but simple now, hoping for more interest when opened with 2010 Burgs in 15 years.

  • Elegant, but with some sharp kirsch/tart strawberry on the palate.

  • This wine is all flavor. Delicate and nuanced and bright red fruit flavors. Not deep, not layered. Just delicious.

  • Popped and let stand for 30-min and paired with rustic, flat-bread pizza and salad. Delicate style, Burgundian in tone and feel. Nose of rose petals, spice box, and earth, mid-palate of kiwi-lime, strawberry, and ripe cherries. Subtle earth throughout with acid and tannins still integrating. Tail was still disorganized, to be expected. Lovely wine but we drank it a good 5-10 years ahead of it's peak window. Will get another to put to sleep for a while.
